Chapter 1- 2 Years Later

Dicks P.O.V.

It's still hard to believe that it's been two years since we lost her. Two long years since I held her in my arms, watched her smile, admiring everything she did; and what a long 2 years it had been. Let's start with the team. We all decided to move to Mount justice for more space and a place that is solely ours. It took a couple of months for us to get used to each other and how we all work but now we work together seamlessly. The JL-Avenger merger was a real success. The merger was also really helpful to keep the piece between two worlds. For the first year after the world merge we were all worried that there would be some sort of war between them but there wasn't, things settled down and it's pretty normal now.

Kaldur is leading us with the help from Peter. Wally and Artemis have got their own place now; M'gann and Connor are looking for somewhere. Ava has started college in New York and is splitting her time between there and being White Tiger; she's managing stuff really well. Luke and Danny have started helping out SHIELD by training the newest recruits and putting them through their paces. Sam has recently returned from a 9 month mission in space with the Guardians of the Galaxy; He's now adjusting back to life on earth. Now, 6 months after Emma's disappearance i got into a fight with bruce and moved out. I lived in the cave for a few months before finding an apartment in Bludhaven. Whilst staying at the cave i decided that it was time for me to move on from being Robin. I redesigned my suit and took up the name Nightwing.

We've also updated the systems and Tech at the cave. It's now Wayne industries tech combined with Stark industries technology. We've changed a few things around the cave to. We now have a dedicated room with uniform cabinets and weapon lockups. As well as a new training room specially designed to incorporate all of our skills and push us to our limits. We also don't take many missions from the JL and SHIELD anymore we tend to find our own.

There's another thing we've changed about the cave. Underneath the cave is a little chamber, it used to be the living quarters for an old JL member but we've found a better use for it. It's now a memorial room; Emma's memorial room. I go down there quite a lot whenever we've had a tough mission or whenever i need a time out. Down there is a holographic image of her, Her shield in front of that, group pictures, flowers, it's your normal memorial really. I just still can't believe that it's been two years since she died...

Wheres the one place the good guys won't look....

Right under their noses, of course. The so called heroes and SHIELD are so stuck up and cocky about the fact they know everything, they haven't realised that i've been here for 2 years. Here with me is a small group (90-100 men) who have all been enhanced with a synthesised version of the SS serum. That's why I took emma, the key to formulating the serum was locking in her DNA. But I didn't just want her DNA key, i wanted information. At the time the only human alive to have worked with both The Avengers and Justice League. All the knowledge in her mind, mine for the taking.

However, that did not happen; I forgot just how studdon the little shit is. Everyday we attempt to get her to spill secretes but nothing; all she does is repeat he name, rank and Badge number. The only plus side of these last 2 years is that ive slowly watched her break. That spark that was once there is gone, her hope is gone, she is a shell of the former soldier she once was. Seeing that everyday brings me so much delight.....

I didn't want to open my eyes. To see what my life has become. It crumble into a million pieces right before my eyes, bringing me into this nightmare. My life now is a re-enforce cell that has zero light it connection to the outside world. Light is never an option here unless someone opens my cell door. 2 years ago I could have gotten out of here without batting an eyelid but now....

My name is Emma Rogers. I'm 20 years old and everyone I know thinks I'm dead. Sometimes I wish I had died or never woken up because now I'm asked the same questions everyday and everyday I give them no answer. That silence has lead me to my current state. Beaten and broken but I won't give in. There is one thing keeping me going and that's one day getting reunited with the love of my life. I've survived this long, I can last a little longer.
