 Chapter one.

She was on the hill near her home, waiting. The shining stars in the sky looked down on her with their blessing. The girl smiled to herself. Whenever she felt uneasy all she had to do was think of the power that created her and she would immediately felt at ease.

She wasn't normal and she was definitely not afraid to admit that. She looked like a human, she once was, and she still is in many ways. But sometimes she would slip up and her secret would be out. She would always pack up and leave once that had happened. It didn’t matter if she had great friends or a brilliant home. She had to leave to avoid further investigation from scientists with huge needles! Not to mention the revengeful family or friends of her victims.

Her name was Sterling; she was average height with green eyes and thick dark eyelashes, rosy cheeks, and brilliant red hair. Her soft almost flawless skin made her look like something out of a movie. But that wasn’t what she used her beauty for.

The white daisy’s dripped with dew and she was beginning to get cold. Goose bumps ran the length of her arms and legs as she hugged herself. She sat there for a few more minutes.

She got up from her spot on the hill and began walking down towards her house. The moon was bright tonight and it cast her shadow across the small field on which her cottage sat. A breeze blew and a chilling feeling ran down her spine. She shivered again, but it didn’t feel like it was from the cold. It almost felt as if she was being watched. Little did she know, she was…

She turned slowly and saw something dark move quickly in the surrounding woods. Her breath hitched in her throat and suddenly felt as if she was not only being watched but hunted.

Her senses began to go into a flurry. She listened and watched intently, there was nothing? She shrugged it off and turned around.

She smacked into something that felt like stone, like she had walked into a wall. She began falling back but that something grabbed her shoulders and held her steady. The first thing she saw was his eyes. They looked grey in the moonlight but she could tell in daylight they would be blue. He had blonde hair, unlike hers which was fiery red, and an evil grin was set deep in his face. If it wasn’t for that grin and what they really were she would have melted in his arms.

“Hello gorgeous, you smell great!” He grinned maliciously whilst showing off his sharp pointed canines. “Mind if I taste?”

“Not today bloodsucker,” She spat whilst brining her knee right into his groin. His face twisted in pain and he crouched over. She pushed him over and began walking away when something came at her from the side. They tackled her to the ground, but she rolled and managed to kick them off. She got to her feet and stared at her new opponent. He had curly brown hair and she imagined that his eyes would also be blue. He moved, quick as a flash, and ran at her full speed. To a human he would have looked like a blur but to her it was normal. She ducked and rolled to the side. She managed to connect her foot with his and he fell and rolled into a nearby tree with a loud crack.

She got back onto her feet and began running, if she could just make it to her cottage and get her weapons before the vampires could get her.

Suddenly, vice like arms gripped around her and pulled her to the ground. She gasped shocked and she squirmed, wriggled and elbowed her attacker. She eventually was lying on top of him and she began repeatedly punching the blonde vampire in the face.

The other vampire emerged from the tree line and came up behind and grabbed her and yanked her off his friend. She struggled against him. She could feel the blood on her hands from the blondes face. The Vampire tightened his grip almost crushing her. She cried out and thrashed violently.
