"What the hell were you thinking?" I gasped, grabbing onto CC's arm with a death grip. The debris from the rotting walls, filled with asbestos and whatever else, filled my lungs as I coughed violently. "You could have killed us!"

You could hear them, the War Heads, as two or three let out groans and roars in the distance, alarming one another. If I could explain the noises that they made, I would have to say that they were like pigeons. Every noise cut off several times before they would close their mouths. It was impossible to mistake it for anything else. "Shit," Sage cursed as he stumbled over to all of us.

All of them, except for Amethyst and I, huddled behind CC as the voices were more prominent. They were men's voices and there was no doubt about the fact that they were arguing loudly to one another. It was obnoxious to listen to. "Those men they were talking about must have followed you and tracked us here," he told me seriously. How could that have been possible?

My astonished expression then died down and I ordered, "Then we should go. It won't be long before they come out and shoot at us." They exchanged unsure glances, but surprisingly Amethyst had nothing to say to shut me down.

"She's right," Maxx spoke for their leader and was starting to turn on his heels to get away from the scene, but CC just stood there as we were starting to shift from the vibrations that twisted and cracked the cement.

Stopping in my tracks, I felt that annoyance build up inside of me. Solenne questioningly stared up at my face as I was beginning to storm back over to him. "Dannie," she was about to start warily, but Phoebe held her back. There was no telling what could possibly happen now. Whipping around to them, she said quickly, "We can't just let her go over there. She could get hurt!"

Covering her mouth, Amethyst pointed out, "Don't worry about that. CC is right there with her and if we stay silent then the War Heads won't find us." Normally, I would have kicked her ass for even touched Solenne, but for us to survive I knew she needed to keep her words to herself.

Raising the magnum into the sky, above his head, I knew what this was coming to. Crouching down suddenly and blocked my ears, the blue auras and rays shot into the atmosphere, breaking the clouds apart and allowing them to roar like thunder. After two more shots, the tremors were growing more severe. "Constantine, let's go!" I shouted at him as the noise continued on.

I could see the blood that smeared up the side of the building, streaking across the ground as if a bomb had gone off. That was where the dog was and the thought of it caused me to feel fear. Imagine, me, feeling fear anymore. "We'll just be followed again. The more aliens that come out, the more of a chance we have to escape," he explained his reasoning.

There three were, emitting the most intimidating auras I could have ever felt. The first two were the largest, which I soon discovered to be females, bumping into and nipping at each other's necks. I had no idea what that meant. I could only assume that it was some sort of a greeting. They swayed over here and CC slowly lowered himself to my level. He picked up a handful of rocks and rose taller than I had ever seen him. Winding up his wrist, he threw them all through the destroyed classroom we had been trapped in.

Many noises caused their pointed arms to tap in excitement, whether it is the clinking of the metal on the desk or the tapping against the linoleum flooring, they ducked down, ready to pounce. My hand snapped up to his arm as I felt unpredictability swarm through my mind. "What is he thinking?" Amethyst slowly held her breath as she started to bolt with Solenne up the hill.

CC knew that this was the time to move. He held onto me as he started to pull me along after the others. The shouting of the men at one another, the men that we had not seen, distracted the War Heads from our loud footsteps. Following after, at the heels of Maxx and Scout, I dared to glance back. They attempting to fish out their prey, though I knew that it would be futile. If they found the basement then they would have been safe from the adults, though I couldn't say that for the babies.

Even though we must have been a good ten blocks away, they were still so large. Could it have been possible that they were the dinosaurs of the earth sixty five million years ago? I would have believed it. "Where are we going to go from here? There are War Heads everywhere. We are heading into the danger zone," Phoebe panted, struggling to keep up at the head of the group.

It was true; you could see their dens that they made in fields and open grassland. They were large craters in the ground and the sides of their bodies were slowly poking out from the dirt as they slept. It was not safe enough. "Is there a forest around here?" I questioned, shaking myself from CC's grip, saving myself the embarrassment of having to be assisted by him.

"A forest?" Maxx echoed as he was thinking to himself. "Then we should go to Mountain Airy. It's the closest and most dense place we have." That sounded fine to me, I didn't really care about that. It is possible for War Heads to be there, but less likely. This was the best chance for us.

Not knowing how much longer my legs would take me, I held onto all of the hope that I had left. You could hear them moving at every corner and inch of where we were in the city. To get away from there would save me some panic, despite the legends of the forest where panic would cause any person to go hysteric and insane. Somehow that seemed like a better place to me, to be hidden in the woods somewhere.

Well, this is a shorter chapter then what I am used to, but either way I hope that you like it for what it is. This chapter was actually loosely inspired by a song of this same title. So perhaps if I put in the link that you can make that connection. Think of it as a soundtrack for this turn of events! :)
