This is a little side story I came up with. It's from a book I'm working on with a friend. I don't know if I'm actually going to put it in the book, but it'll be here in case I decide to.
The book is called Tooth and Talon by Owlgirl456 and I.

I could hear a noise. It sounded like a child crying.

I traveled silently. Stepping over twigs, and dodging vines that were snagging my cloak and hair.

I had a dark wood bow slung over my back. And crow feathered arrows in my leather quiver. I had a black cloak, the hood covering my face and raven black hair.

I continued on towards the sound. The wails getting louder and louder.

I knew this forest like the back of my hand; I had grown up here. But obviously, this child- if it is a child making this noise- did not.

I rounded a grove of thick trees, only to
come across a small clearing.

It was a child making the noise. He could be no older than 4 and no younger than 3. But it a mystery as to why he was out here.

He was small for his age. With blonde hair. He wore a dark blue shirt and brown pants. Tears streaking down his small face. Though his eyes were closed.

Why is he here? I think. No human is supposed to be here this deep in the forest. Much farther and he would have been caught and killed without mercy at the edge of the wolf tribe's borders.

I could here someone calling. "Matthew! Matthew where are you?" This human must be deaf in order to not hear this child's cries.

Suddenly the child stopped crying. I
tilted my head. Just like that he, stopped. But for some reason he still had his eyes closed.

He suddenly opened his eyes and looked around the clearing. That's when I saw, he had pure gold eyes. A child like that hadn't been born since.... No it could't be.

I slowly crept out of my cover of trees and bushes, and slowly made my way over to the child, hoping not to startle him.

"Hey there." I murmured to him. He looked up at me, his golden eyes seeming to glow. "What are you doing here? In the woods." I say while gently picking him up and cradling him in my arms. He instantly relaxed into my arms. Maybe even falling asleep. I gave a small smile at the sight.

"Matthew! Matthew!" The human called again.

I crouched down onto the ground, Matthew sleeping in my arms. I unfolded my black raven wings in protection. I needed to regain some energy in order to use my magic to get us out of here.

Suddenly a human male stumbled into the clearing. His eyes widened in shock at the sight of me holding the baby. "Hey!" He yelled. "What do you think you're doing?!" Fury entering his gaze. "This child does not belong to you. You stole him." I said, my voice becoming threatening. "I am retuning him to where he belongs."

And with that I teleported us away, to the snow leopard tribe.
