Liam's POV:

Beep. Beep. Beep.

I could hear a faint beeping noise in the background, the only thing emerging from the never ending darkness. My body felt loose and pliant but I couldn't find the strength to move. Suddenly, a blinding pain came over me, I felt it washing over my body in waves, overcoming all my senses until I could no longer hear the incessant beeping, I don't know how long it lasted but soon my entire body went numb and  I felt cold. I felt like my bonds were breaking, almost as though I was rising up outside of my body, it was a surreal experience and I felt nothing anymore.

Beep. Beep.

No pain, no emotions, it felt almost as though I were chasing something, but I don't know what. The darkness looked as though it were lifting and I could see something light  in my peripheral vision but every time I attempted to look at it, it moved farther away.

Beep.

My only thoughts were about the growing feeling inside me, I was getting hot, like I was being lighted from the inside, the feeling spreading through my body until it was on the brink of uncomfortable. As soon as the heat began to be unbearable it stopped and the pain I was feeling didn't return. However, the familiar darkness came again, blanketing my body, I felt as though I were suffocating in it, which was worse then the pain. I began searching for that light, wanting it, hoping I could leave where I was right now as long as I found that light once again.

"Nurse!... heart stopped...." I could hear muffled noises and an unbearable pressure on my chest.

"try again!... again..." it felt as though someone was sitting on my chest. Worse then when I was younger and my sisters would sit on me until I gave them the remote, or when I fell face first off the swing set.

"....time?"

I saw the light again, it was brighter then last time, enveloping me in its warmth.

Harry's POV:

I sat in the passenger seat of Louis' car. He was pestering me with question after question, trying to get me to explain what happened. My responses were getting less and less often, until they were just one worded, until I was silent. I watched the rain pelting the window, I could feel a bitter laugh boiling up my throat, Liam had always loved the rain, he liked how after being hit with hard rain drops you could always go inside and wrap yourself in blankets and watch movies. Well, Liam wont get to warm up anymore, his body will be forever cold.

"Harry? Harry! Harry look at me, please" Louis sounded so broken, as though he had been crying the entire time. I looked over at him, he wasn't making eye contact until the next red light. He turned and looked at me, putting a hand on my knee.

"Harry, he will be fine. Okay? Liam's a fighter, he always wanted a full life. He wants to live, he'll overcome it. He'll be okay. He will  make it through this." he said

I didn't respond, and the light turned green. We didn't say another word until we got to the hospital.

When we walked in we saw Niall and Zayn talking to the receptionist. We ran over to them just as the receptionist began typing Liam's name into her computer.

"Harry! Are you okay? What happened?" Zayn said, immediately engulfing me in a hug. I looked towards Louis with pleading eyes.

"Harry hasn't said much since I picked him up mate, he's in shock I think" Louis said quickly. Zayn let go of me, giving me a once over with his eyes to make sure I was okay before turning his attention back to the receptionist who was kindly waiting for our conversation to end before she gives us Liam's room number. I looked at Louis with gratitude before turning back to the receptionist. I noticed she had a stricken look on her face and my heart dropped.
