what is it like to
be in love?
well, when you first see them across the room,
you tense up as you see the world around you
slow to a stop.
you examine every crevice of their face
every shimmer of their smile
and for that entire moment,
they become
the brightest thing in the room.
their light heats you up inside, and almost burns your heart
tighter and
tighter it squeezes.
but soon enough,
time returns
everything is once what it was.
except one thing.
the heart stays tight and encaptured, in flames.
it will always long to return to that moment.
the moment you first saw them.
days will pass and the heart will not release.
you can either continue on like this or,
you can confront them.
with this, your life becomes entwined with theirs.
you, listening and hanging onto every word they say
you, up late at night, wondering about them, how they're doing
you, longing to be at their side
once more, you must make that decision:
will you go along like this or
speak up?
speaking up is a much larger feat.
one must gather the courage and determination needed by
the bravest warrior to muster up the strength to say
those three words.
you can spend up to days, weeks, months preparing but:
it doesn't matter until
you actually carry it through.
but just imagine,
sitting down with them.
your heart is about to burst -- into flames.
across from you is the person you care the most about
and they don't even know.
all that pain, stress, and suffrage you've experienced builds up to this moment.
you think: do they feel the same? do they care?
and once more, time is caught in the moment.
their gaze upon yours.
you study their eyes, countless galaxies and stars are shining through,
the peaks and slopes of their face, perfectly placed,
broad light from their smile blinds your eyes
this is the moment it all has lead up to
and
now
it's time to uncover if
their heart has been charred
as much as yours..
