Prologue
Faye ran until her legs couldn't carry her any more. She didn't know how long she had been running or how far she'd ran. All she knew was that he was still chasing her. She ducked into a ditch that led to the underneath of a road and crawled in. She tried to control her breathing and listen for his foot steps. She could not hear anything over the thumping of her own heart and the car driving above her. Suddenly everything was dead silent. She opened her eyes and all she could see was his bloody face. She screamed louder than she had ever screamed before but within two seconds he had a bloody hand over her mouth.
