I sighed, as I opened my final gift from my Uncle Lenny. It was a few pairs of earrings and some fuzzy socks. He knows me well. I smiled a big smile and gave him a hug. Mostly everyone had gone to bed including most of the little kids. At my Grandparent's Christmas, when everyone goes to bed, the little kids (4-11) sleep in one room, the young teens/preteens (12-14) sleep in one room, and the teens (15- 19) sleep in one room.
Uncle Lenny waved, and headed off to bed with his newly-wed wife. "Alright Chris, are you OK staying here tonight?" My mother asked. I elbowed Chris, signaling him to say no. He just smirked at me and nodded at my mother. "Of course I am OK with it. And thank you so much for really taking me in as a part of the family." Chris said, and on family he elbowed me in the ribs.
I grabbed Jolie and pulled her to the kitchen. She was a little confused, and had her eyebrows furrowed together. I picked up a plate from the sink and started scrubbing. Jolie did the same. Jordan and Chris walked in and started sweeping and bagging up food to put in the fridge.
"You like him don't you?" Jolie asked, as she tried scraping- what I hope was ketchup off a plate.
"No." I snapped. She laughed, and looked at me in disbelief.
"You are a terrible liar." She said. I rolled my eyes and put another plate in the dishwasher.
"Come on. It's obvious. The way you look at him. The way you kick him and elbow him, like you always want an excuse to touch him." Jolie said simply. I rolled my eyes for the second time.
"Just keep scrubbing your ketchup." I said to her.
"You know, I don't think this is ketchup." She said, and I couldn't help but laugh.

"How did you know we were going to be spending the night?" I questioned Chris, as I tossed him his duffel bag and I grabbed mine.
"I always bring bags when I go places."
"Ew."
"No. It's not like that you fool."
"Mhm. Sure."
I slammed the car trunk shut and walked back into the house. I lead Chris up to the teen room, it had three sets of bunk beds, and there would be five people staying in the room.
I walked in the door and already say Jordan, Jolie, and my cousin Maya.
"Hey." I said, and they all nodded. I threw my bag on the nearest bunk, which just happened to be under Chris's.
We had all gotten settled in, and Jordan had a "great" idea. "You know guys, we should play truth or dare." He smirked. Maya jumped in the air.
Jeez Maya, you are supposed to be on my side.
Jolie agreed as well.
You too Jolie.
We all sat in a corner, and Jordan went first.
"Madds, truth or dare?" Spencer said. I rubbed my forehead and sighed.
"Truth."
"Do you like anyone in your school?" He said. I sighed and thought.
Did I? I mean, there was Micheal Plato. He was kind of cute. I didn't really like him though.
A name popped in my head. Chris.
No. No. Not now. Don't think about him.
"I- I don't think so." I said- or stuttered I guess. Jordan nodded, and signaled for me to go.
"Ok, um.. Jolie. Truth or dare?" I asked.
"Dare." She smiled. "I dare you to.... go scare the little kids." I said, happy with my dare.
Two years ago, I gave her the same dare and she almost got in humongous trouble.
She gulped, and nodded uneasily. Jolie stood up and walked out the door, with the rest of us four right behind her. She stopped in front of one of the closets and pulled out a gorilla mask. I gave her a thumbs up, and she walked down to the basement.
There were 7 kids sitting with their pillows held to their chest. They were watching a movie with pure concentration.
Jolie stepped around the corner and let out a hideous noise, making all the kids scream. We all sprinted up the basement stairs, around a corner, and then up another flight of stairs to our bedroom.
When we fell into our bedroom, we were all panting like phsychos. We shut the door, and sat back in our circle.
"Well that was interesting." Maya said, and we all nodded.
"Alright Jolie, your turn." Jordan said.
Jolie smirked at me with a devious glint in her eyes.
"Chris, truth or dare?"
I rolled my eyes and folded my arms over my chest.
"Um... truth?" Chris said, seeming unsure of himself.
Jolie nodded and put her fingers on her chin.
"Do you like anyone in your school?"
Of course she would ask that. I thought to myself.
"Um... yeah. I think I do." He smirked.
He probably like one of the skanks always hanging on him like a jungle gym.
I thought to myself.
Jolie nodded, and Chris went. I mostly tuned out though.
After an excutiating 30 minutes of truth or dare, I finally decided to go to sleep, as did everyone else.
I snuggled up into my pillow, and started to drift off to sleep.
"Maddison?" I heard a whisper.
"Yeah?" I replied.
"Nevermind. Goodnight."
"Goodnight Chris."
*******
When I woke up, almost everyone was already downstairs, except for one person.
Chris.
He was sitting next to my bed, watching me.
"Were you watching me sleep?" I asked.
"What? No." He said,
I stretched, and got out of bed. I ran my hands through my hair, not caring what it looked like. Chris followed me downstairs and into the kitchen where everyone was already eating. I saw Clarice next to my little cousin Max. They were playing with their food. Gross.
I grabbed a plate and put some random food on it. After sitting down in one of the only available seats, I immediately started eating. Of course, Chris sat next to me and started stuffing his face. I watched him and his male teenager ways, and couldn't help but smile.
