As the plane was landing, i could see the people getting bigger and bigger. The buildings getting larger by the second. The sounds of crying filled the plane as we slowly approached the airports runway. My mother sitting beside me, watching as the land in front of us becomes closer and in focus. I've never been more happy to be home.
I spent all my summer in America with my mother as she was required to be with her models at every show. My mother is a well-known fashion designer. She is made to do stuff for Vogue and Prada. Most of the time, she travels on her own but she wanted me to go with her this time. I think it was to experience the real world. She didn't want to take Justin with us as apparently he's got to focus on his school work over the summer.
As we collected our luggage from the bag collected, we heard screams directly in front of us. Three girls, reading the new vogue magazine, were the source. The one of the left had long, curly brown hair, a face caked in makeup and blue eyes. To some people that would have been attractive but to me it's just a way to cover up their insecurities. The middle one has bleach blonde hair, her clothes revealing mostly skin and much like the other one, she was wearing a cake on her face. The one of the right had very long brown hair, she was the only one to not be caked in makeup. She was the odd one out in the group, she didn't look comfortable there. It was almost like she was forced to put on an act to be with those types of people.
The centre one was the first to speak, "Are you Myrtle Adams?" She said, after looking my mother up and down. My mum just nodded, completely uninterested in the girls in front of her.
Now I understand where I get my ignorance from.
The girls screamed yet again before asking for a photo and for my mother to sign the magazine in their hands. My mother agreed politely before signalling me to walk ahead.
This is a normal day at the office for mother. Since most of England know who she is, she is stopped frequently by fans asking for exclusive information on her line and for a photo or autograph. It's understandable that people want a photo with Myrtle Adams, she was truly gorgeous. She has short brown hair that is cut into layers around her shoulders, she has bright green eyes that are hard to lose in a crowd with how unique they are. She always wore a small amount of makeup, a dash of mascara and a nude lipstick is what she wore on a day to day basis. She was always one to wear her own clothing line, I think it's because when she first started off as a fashion designer, she was the one to wear all of the dresses before sending them to professionals. Mum had always wanted to design. She was the best in her class according to father and I don't doubt him. Mum always looks happy whenever her line was on the catwalk.
After she had finished with the photos, she walked over to me. "I'm sorry Hazel, lets go find your brother." she sighed before walking through the exit. I quickly followed behind, I have never been too fond of airports. Mainly because of how many people were all rushing to get back to loved ones. Everywhere you looked, you could see at least one couple hugging or kissing after being reunited.
I look around the, now, nearly empty airport. Trying to see my older brother and my father. i spotted them near the Gregg Store, looking at all the pasties and cakes on sale.
Justin was busy looking at a sausage roll when I approached them. His hair was messy and his clothes creased. Guess him and dad didn't know how to iron. His hair had also started to curl at the back making his usual straight brown hair turn into the mess that is in front of me.
My father was looking at his phone. It looked like he was reading something. His short, now grey, hair was hidden under a hat. His round glasses were perched on his nose making him look a tiny bit younger than what he is. His suit was plain back and was not creased, much like Justin's.
They both didn't notice me approach them so once i was behind Justin, i screamed. Justin froze in shock, turning around slowly only for his eyes to show mock anger. "Hazel Jade Adams! Did you really just scream in my ear hoping that i would scream like a girl?" I just nodded, knowing what was going to happen next. "Well clearly you don't know me as good as i thought you did." He huffed before turning back to the goods in front of him. I just engulfed him in a hug, not letting go when he begged and begged me to let him breathe. I let go of him, mainly because he looked like he was actually struggling to breathe. He turned around and flashed me his "charming" smile before he hugged me much like i just hugged him. "Welcome back sis." he whispered into my ear before letting go and I turned to my father.
"Welcome back honey!" he said before opening his arms up for me. I quickly accepted and hugged my father. He wasn't one to show his love for someone very often so i had better take the chance now. Plus, i actually missed my father. He is usually working late, much like mother, so whenever he is at home, he is either asleep or working on the computer so I don't see him that often to have a bond with him.
Mum was speaking to Justin, hugging him quickly before coming over to my father. I returned to Justin so that mum and dad could reunited like most couples do. Dad pecked mums lips before me and Justin both faked gags earning a disappointed look from father. Justin and I both started to laugh silently before Justin leaned in and whispered into my ear, "Ready to see the new apartment?" he asked, leaning back to look at my face. I nodded, pushing him away before laughing when he nearly falls over as he bumps into a girl around our age. Justin turned to apologise but the girl was already gone. He turned around multiple times looking for her but failed. He slowly stopped and turned to look at me. Justin will always be a player at heart.
Soon after, mum and dad came to join me and Justin. Their hands locked together after being separated for so long. Both of them smiling as they looked at me and Justin as if we were the best people in the world. Justin and I will be living together now, out of the way of my parents as they need their alone time, no matter how much they deny it. Since Justin is in his second year of college and i'm just starting college, mum and dad thought it would be a good idea to let both of us live together closer to college. Justin moved all of our stuff in a apartment block over summer with a little help from father.
"Be good, both of you. We'll come see you when you are all settled in. We love you!" mum says before her and dad both walk out of the exit. i guess i won't be seeing them for a while. Justin starts to follow after them, "Come on little sis! Let's show you our new home!" i nodded, running after him. "I'm not that little!" I yell as he runs towards the carpark, stopping to find the car in the mass of cars that is in front of us. He just laughs at my comment before running, yet again, to his car. I follow behind quickly, running with such haste i nearly ran straight into a old man that was opening the boot of his car. Justin beat me to the car and was laughing and leaning against the bonnet of the car, as i finally made it to the car. "You are the fastest runner on the football team. Of course you are going to beat me." I say sarcastically, punching him on the arm. This only made him laugh harder.
Once he had stopped laughing, he got into the driver's seat as I got into the passenger seat. His little ford fiesta was a deep, ruby red. His car was spotless, his dashboard having not a single speck of dust on it. It was quite impressing for Justin.
"Hey Hazel, are you ready to see where we will be living for the next couple years?" All i could do was nod.
