College sucks. This is Maya's conclusion.
After only a few weeks into her first semester as a Freshman, she is already done with this place. Why does she have to take biology and algebra if she doesn't plan on using it in the future?
Riley, on the other hand, was having the time of her life, as always. Before Maya could even get a chance to get her homework layed out, Riley was already flying through hers faster than Maya's ever seen before. Then again, this is Riley Matthews we're talking about here.
------------
Weekends are like mini vacations to Maya. No school, no work, and no responsibilities. At least, they were before Maya's desk became the Mt. Everest of yet-to-do homework pages.
"Come on, Maya. Just take a short break, will you?"
All Riley got as a response was a low growling noise and a poorly aimed paper ball thrown in her general direction.
"Do you know what I think we should do?" Riley asked, "We should sing our happy song!"
"We don't have a happy song, Riles." Maya responds, smashing down the keys on her non-digital calculator, frustrated.
"We should have a happy song!"
"We will never have a happy song." Maya grumbles, debating whether or not to burn her algebra homework.
"Well not with that attitude." Riley huffs.
This made Maya chuckle quietly to herself. Maybe a happy song wouldn't be so bad after all.
