[ you ever just get those random bursts of sadness/nostalgia?? im going through messages with old friends i met through the internet and listening to sad music and im realizing how powerful and beautiful and weird the internet is. today wasnt a very good day and i didnt have school so i just lazed around and watched anime, i started no game no life and im already halfway done with it. oops. i thought writing some fanfic would cheer me up. enjoy. ]

"yu, can you rate your pain for me?"
yu felt fine, sure, physically. but on the inside it was far much worse. he couldnt tell if it was the same day or not, maybe mid evening on the same day, he couldnt tell. the curtains werent parted and the window did not show sunlight. if it did, yu couldnt see it.
akane stood infront of him, she was not smiling. her lips narrowed into a straight line, almost like a frown. akane never frowned. god, this was horrible. his head hurt too. it ached more then his heart, which, if he could recall the reason why he was here was because it beated too fast that it knocked him out.
yu held up 8 fingers, two for physical pain. six for mental pain. akane nodded solemly, scrawling that down on her clipboard.
"w-why am i here?" yu rasped, he didn't realize how hoarse his voice would come out.
akane started to speak, but yu couldnt hear any of it. his ears suddenly popped. her mouth was moving, sure, but his ears twitched. he couldnt even read her lips. akane must of saw him stare at him blankly with no response, so she flipped something on the machine, pulled yu's blankets around him tighter, and walked away. yu's expression faltered, he thought of mika. he didnt want to think of mika.
instead he curled up against his pillow and fell asleep again.
he woke up an hour or two later, slightly hoping someone would be at the edge of his bed waiting for him. no one was there. he pushed the monitors and machines away from him and slowly got himself out of bed, he heard arguing. more importantly, he heard famillar voices. he hobbled out of his room and followed the noise, down to room he could have sworn he'd been in before. it took him a second, but he had. it was krul's hospital room. he didn't see mika, but he heard what sounded like his voice. he saw a glimpse of krul though, and she looked horrible. it looked like a rash had spread across her face and her limbs, they looked a itchy and hurting shade of pinkish red. like a darker shade of her hair, which was now so long that it came down to her calves. it was dishevled and messy. her eyes looked bloodshot.
"you should leave, mika." krul said, reed-thin arms crossed over her chest. "i know you like that boy with the fern colored eyes. whats his name, yuichiro?"

yu stiffened, peering into the room barely.

he saw mika, who stood over krul, scratching his neck. "i-i-...whats it to you, krul?! all you ever do is beg me to check up on you and your polycythemia. we can't even go on dates anymore because your so sick. maybe your doing a favor by dumping me!"
"mika, i swear to god, if you don't get the hell out of here-"
mika turned on his heel and left the room, thankfully going in a different direction and not seeing yu. atleast thats what he thought, mika was eleven steps away from krul's room when mika stopped, sighing. "yu, you can stop hiding now." his voice sounded sad.
"h-how did you see me?"
"your hair was poking up in odd places again, i could tell it was you. why are you here? i mean, your always here, no offense."
yu looked at the ground. "do you hate me from what happened earlier?" he tried to stir away from the question mika was asking.
"no..." mika ran a hand through his hair. smiling slightly, not entirely, but it still tugged at his lips. "afterwards i found it a bit funny and silly, i'm...i'm sorry for getting mad," mika tried again. "why are you here?"
yu heaved. "after i left, i kinda, uh, fainted." he tried for it to sound casual. "nothing you should worry ab-"
mika ran to him, arms snaking themselves around yu's back, lifting him up in a hug. he felt one hand on the small on the back and the other carded through his hair. mika talked, through his voice was muffled. "was it because of what happened?" yu blushed. "y-yeah."
mika held him up, yu wrapping his legs around his waist while mika took him back to akane. she maybe was looking for him. "i'm sorry, yu. honest. i guess i was just embarassed."
akane was there when mika and yu came in, and she giggled. "yu, lets run a test or two on you and then you can head home. i called your parents, but maybe its best if mika just waits and then drives you home?"
"fine by me." mika muttered, setting yu down. "i'll be waiting in the lobby."
akane walked over and started to run a quick checkup. "how did you know he was here?" yu blinked. "i didn't i heard arguing. his, uh, his girlfriend dumped him."
"oh? who's his girlfriend?" akane asked.
"krul tepes. real short, long pink hair. has something called polycythemia. whats that?"
"too much hemoglobin in the blood. opposite of anemia. she's got too many red blood cells. you know, her step-father is partnered with alot of hospitals and companys around here. his name is...mr.bathory, it think?"
"i see..." yu said, watching his heart monitor. slow was his heart, as usual. akane then asked out of no where. "do you like mika?"
yu jumped, frantic. "i-i!!, um!!" he didnt know how to answer. but akane smiled slightly. "don't know?"

"yeah," yu swung his feet back and fourth, eyes glued to the tile. "something like that."
