Flashback
" Mommy?" The young girl prodded, looking up starry eyed towards her mother.
"Yes, honey?" Her mother questioned while bustling around the kitchen quietly, trying to prepare lunch for her daughter.
"I'm never going to grow up." Kathryn stated firmly. Her mother looked down to her, trying to stifle the laugh that's threating to spill form her lips at her innocent daughters command. "I'm being serious mommy! I'm never ever going to grow up." She stated while stomping her foot to get a certain finality to come across the situation.
"Sweetie, you sound certain." Her mom looked down at her with a smile on her face and love in her eyes. Little Kathryn nodded firmly towards her mother as to stress her seriousness. Her mother picked her up and laughed. "Has your father ever showed you the movie peter pan?" The little girl shook her head and her mother brought her into their living room. There she rifled through a few stacks of VHS tapes until she plucked one out and entered the tape into the television.
As the opening credits began to roll Kathryn's mother knew her daughter wouldn't be eating lunch that day, as she was already sprawled across the carpet, her head resting admirably on her small elbows starring dreamily at the T.V.
For years Kathryn Gallagher never believed in something as strong as pixie dust, though years later as she began the journey of growing up she begins to forget the promises she made to herself as a young girl, who will help her remember?
