Aki awoke suddenly to a large "thump" from under her bed. She tensed up, imaging a thousand horrible images of whatever made the noise. "THUMP!" There it was again! It was under the bed! Aki held her breath, hoping who or whatever it was would just disappear. Suddenly, she heard another thump, but this time, it was out from under the bed. It sounded like a paw hitting the carpet. Aki squeezed her eyes closed, slightly tearing up. Another thump, a second paw. Then the whole bed shifted upward as a huge creature climbed out from under the bed.

The creature was covered in dark gray fur, had the huge paws of a bear, and the ears of a wolf. It didn't make a sound, just stood for a moment. Aki couldn't breath, couldn't move, didn't dare scream. She lay there, tense, neither fighting or flying. She was frozen in fear.

The creature began to turn, making the loudest "thumps" you could think possible. When it turned all the way around, Aki saw that the creature had no face, only a black hole where a face should be. Aki screamed in terror as the thing reached out to her.

She jerked out of bed to see no monster, had it disappeared? Was it a dream? Sleep paralysis? Aki turned on her lamp, lighting the room. She looked under her bed, nothing, in her closet, nope. It had to have been a dream!

Aki let out a relieved sigh, checking the time on her phone. It was midnight. She decided to let herself sleep nightmare free and chocked it up to a coincidence, there was no way that was some sort of demon, or ghost, or whatever it was.

She just went back to bed, trying her best to forget about the dream.
