*Seto Kaiba's POV*

After Mercy walked out of the class, ignoring the teachers orders of sitting back down, Joey and Yugi soon followed. They apologized, saying they had to check on their friend. I waited another minute, before I also got up to find her. I walked to the front building, seeing Yugi and Wheeler talking to her. Her face blank, like it had been all morning. I needed to talk to her father, she seemed to be even more withdrawn now.

"Mercy, lets go. I want to talk to your father, and I'd like you to be there", I said as soon as I walked out the door. I didn't wait for her to answer, just continued to the limo that pulled up. I opened the door, waiting for her to come over and get in. Yugi and Wheeler looked stupid, their mouths hanging open slightly. Idiots.

"Bye guys, I'll see you later", she said, barely louder then a whisper, then walked to the open door, looking, for all the world, like a queen. I smiled at how strong she was being, by far stronger than anyone else I knew.

Once I slid into the limousine, I noticed that she was as far away as possible. Staring out the window.

"What happened yesterday?" I questioned. She turned to look at me, her eyes were emotionless and I knew she wouldn't answer. "After I dropped you off, did he beat you again?" I continued, knowing I would receive a response. "Can you tell me what happened". No sound, she just shook her head no, before she looked back out the window.

After a minute, she began shaking violently, water droplets landed on her clenched fist. My god, she was crying. If the strongest girl I had ever had the fortune to meet was crying, none of us a chance in this god forsaken world.

I will kill her father for doing it, whatever he had done.

After a couple of more minutes, we pulled up at her house, but by then she was just barely trembling. I got out of the car and strode to her front door, banging on it as loudly as I could.

Her father answered almost immediately, looking delighted, until he saw my face. I looked murderous, I'm sure, because that’s exactly how I felt. I stormed in, backing Trevor Fortuna into a corner, I came up to three inches above him so I was made to stare down at the little worm.

"Sign the damn paper, Fortuna!" I commanded, my voice as calm as I could make it.

"All right, jeez, if you wanted the little whore, you could have stopped by last night and paid a simple, cheap two hundred bucks," he smirked and looked over my shoulder. I turned around in time to see Mercy running out the door like Satan himself was chasing her.

"Mercy, wait!" I called, but she didn't. She kept on running, sprinting away from the house. "Sign the papers, Fortuna. Now!" I thundered, wanting nothing more than to bolt after the scared little girl and capture her in my arms while promising her nothing but safety.

"Fine. She's just some little whore anyways. Spread her legs real easy last night for a good buddy of mine."

He chuckled darkly. I slammed my fist into his face, trying to calm the fire building rapidly inside of me, boiling my blood.

"Sign!" I shoved the drawn up contract in his face, but Fortuna shook his head, still smirking as if he wasn’t bleeding and hadn't been pounded by my fist. Growling, I slammed his head into the wall before stalking off back to the limousine, I didn’t have time to waste, I needed to go find Mercy before she got herself into any more trouble. “Go where the girl ran to, I need to find her.” I muttered, barely able to control my anger to avoid shouting at the innocent chauffeur.

It took several minutes, until we finally were right next to my own KaibaCorp building, and that's when I saw her across the street.

"There she is. Pull up." I watched as her brother came out of the Moto’s card shop and grabbed her arm. He said something to her, while she shook her head. I stepped out of the car and walked over to them, while Devlin and Mr. Moto came out of the shop as well.

"Mercy, get in the car, I’m taking you home for the night", I walked closer. She looked at everyone surrounding her, and became instantly on guard, locking her emotions up inside her. She stared at me, looking slightly pained and scared. I slowly reached out to her, but she flinched away, backing up to her brother, who wrapped his arms around her. She moved away from him quickly, then got out of the circle.

"No. I'm not going to be bought like some damn prostitute. Or go back with the ones who abandoned me," she kept backing up, and when she realized none of us were following her, she turned and ran.

"What the hell, Kaiba? You bought her?" Damon yelled, turning to look at me with a muderous intent clear in his icy blue -much like Mercy's- eyes.

"Don't be stupid. I tried to buy her, not for prostitution but so that I could simply adopt her and take her away from your father, however he refused!  so I’m going to chance a kidnapping charge so that I don’t have to worry about her dying over night because I wont abandon her like some would!" I shot into his face, watching as guilt ate him alive.

He deserved it and more.

I didn't tell them what he had forced upon her, it was none of their damn business. I went back to the limo, and got in, we began our search for the girl I had taken under my wing once again.
