[[READ THIS!  This is IMPORTANT AS HELL!  My Story "Snape's Daughter" has made it to ROUND TWO of the Watty Awards and I could use all the votes I can get because out of FIVE places, I am in fourth.. so if you've not already voted for someone else and you like my writing, maybe go to "www.wattpad.com/watty" and go to Fan Fiction, then vote for Snape's daughter <3  IF I win, i will write constantly until I can upload EVERY one of my stories :D

Another thing, is I did say I'd write a sequel, but I thought you should know that it will be a Mokuba story, as in a few years in the future, you'll still be seeing Mercy and Seto, but it'll be based around MOkuba and a new interest :D]]

Seto's POV:

It had nearly been three weeks since Mr. Fortuna had forcefully taken Mercy out of the Mall.

For the entire time she'd been gone, I'd been speaking to lawyers, police officers and judges. Basically, anyone involved in law enforcement, and coming up with possible ideas in which I could take Mercy away from the bastard and gaining custody.

That is.. until I found one Mr. Sentury, of Sentury and Genevieve, a lesser known lawyer company.

“She's seventeen, the easiest way to have this play out in your favor, is to have her emancipate herself. She will not be in your care, but she'll no longer have to stay with her father, and if the police get involved and take him away, then all the better to you.”

I smiled at the new idea, glad to have met the man standing before me. He'd just made my entire damn year.

“Thank you, Sir,” I stood up, shaking his hand before writing a check that was a rather generous 'thank you' for helping Mercy and I out. Now to find a way to get this plan across to Mercy, though it couldn't be through school. She hadn't shown up at all in the last three weeks, and everyone was beginning to worry.

Her father worked..where again? I searched my mind for the information I knew was stored, when I finally remembered him coming to the school with a uniform that said 'Security' across the back. He worked at the local jailhouse, didn't he?

After several moments of thinking, I finally decided to take the chance and simply go to her house, hoping that her father would be at work.

After telling the limo driver her address, I sat back in my seat, wondering how this would play out, and hoping it would be for the best.

Mercy's POV

For three weeks I'd sat here, in this grungy house with nothing to do but cook, clean and try to survive. I suppose now I knew just how Cinderella felt as she slaved for her step-family.

Sighing, I moved from the kitchen to the living room, limping slightly as I went. Every night Father invited his friends over, drank beer and trashed the entire house, before they went to work each morning, leaving me with a house to clean. Generally it took all ten hours that father was at work to clean the mess they'd made. Every single day for the passed three weeks had been exactly like today..

Except for one thing.

A door bell rang, and I stared towards the peeling paint-wooden door for several moments before deciding to ignore it. I'd surely get into more trouble for answering it. A few minutes later, it rang again.. and then again. After an hour of ignoring the door, I finally gave up on the notion that it was ignorable.

My shaking hand closed around the metal doorknob and I looked down at myself to make sure I was presentable, besides a bruise I knew to be on the left side of my neck and a slightly smaller one on my right cheek, no others were visible. My clothes were wrinkled and ragged, but there were no rips in them or blood on them.. I suppose that was the best I could hope for at that moment.

Twisting the knob, I opened it slowly at first before realizing who it was. Immediately, I flung it the rest of the way open and eyed him. He looked the same as ever, though ten years older than I'd ever remembered seeing him. Was he working himself too hard again?

“What are you doing here, Seto?” I questioned, my eyes raking over his entirety, soaking up everything about him and storing it away in my memory so that when he left, I still remembered perfectly what he'd looked like the last time I saw him.

“I have an idea..”

An hour and a half later, I sat on the couch in Seto Kaiba's living room, my head resting on Kaiba's shoulder with Mokuba sitting on the floor at our feet, waiting for the police to show up. It was nerve wracking, wondering if what the lawyer told him would work.. could I get emancipated?

I bit my lip hard enough to break the skin but paid it no attention and kept chewing on my lower lip as I eyed the television in front of me as the commercials went by. Paper towels, a new computer, a local grocery store..

“Stop.”

I jumped at the sudden noise, getting myself closer to Kaiba and the safety he offered before I realized that it was him who had spoken. My eyes darted up towards his own, and I saw his hand coming towards me, yet didn't jump as I did when anyone else made a sudden movement. His thumb at my lip, I felt him rubbing across it before pulling the appendage away, and staring at the blood stained skin.

“Sorry,” I muttered, wiping my lip with the palm of my hand before rubbing my hand against the brand new blue jeans I'd bought three weeks ago with Nick before Father had dragged me away.

Kaiba wrapped his arms around my shoulders, easily pulling m closer before laying down and pulling my body completely atop him. I blushed as we laid chest to chest, before slowly, very slowly, relaxing and laying my head on his collarbone.

Listening to his heartbeats, feeling as his chest rose and fell with his breathes.. well, it made it easy to fall asleep.
