The day was gray and gloomy. Personally, those are my favorite days. The smell of rain coming was the icing on the cake for me. It is not every day we get rain in Southern Cali, and if anything Inglewood. As the rain started to pour down, I listened to it hit my window as I lay in my bed staring at the ceiling. Blunt burning in one hand while my mind raced miles per seconds.
I am only sixteen and life for me is already hard. With my mother, Kim, being a mother of three, and plays favorites. If it is not with my older brother Boz, then it's with my younger sister Kelly. It was no secret that Boz and Kels father is not mine.
My mom was married to a man named Bosco when she had Boz. Bosco was 'that' nigga in the streets. Niggas either feared him or wanted to be him, and females wanted what Kim had. With that being said, she eventually caught Bosco in the act with her best friend at the time and it did not take her long to try to seek the perfect revenge.
Bosco was secretly not Kim's first love, my father, King was. King and Kim met back in high school freshman year. They were on and off throughout their whole relationship in high school but that did stop Kim from falling head over heels for King. Why wouldn't she? King was a well built, six foot four, caramel complexion with a set of dimples. Even though King was a ladies man, and in other words, a whore caused Kim to go off and end up running into Bosco.
Even though King also loved Kim, he felt he was young and wasn't in the rush to change his ways. It wasn't until Kim was engaged when it hit him that he lost her. On the other hand, Bosco hated King because he knew that King had that tie on Kim and if he wanted her, she would go back. So he rushed a wedding and knocked her up, since he couldn't fight for her the right way and took the easy way out.
King fell back and went on with his life. Yeah, Kim and he ran into each other from time to time but they respected each other not to make more out of it. That's until Bosco's little stunt with Kim's bestie. Kim thought she was doing something to hurt Bosco, and ended up hurting herself.
For months King and Kim's affair went on and their old feelings for each other resurfaced. King wanted Kim for himself once and for all but Kim already had Boz to think about. As a man King wanted to do nothing more than to accept and adopt Boz as his son, but knowing Kim, she had nothing to offer but excuses.
Eventually she went back to Bosco and found out she was expecting, me of course. She somehow tricked herself into thinking I was Bosco baby. She had a rude awakening after giving birth to me and finding out that I looked nothing like Bosco, I had King written all over my face. From my big light brown eyes, curly hair, nose, down to his skin tone.
Long story short, Bosco was never the same after that. He was reckless to her. He cheated, mistreated her, abused her and plus more. Numerous times Boz and I witnessed Bosco abuse Kim after he came home drunk and high. She felt that I was the root for their problems when I was nothing but proof of her revenge to her husband.
Once I hit the age of two, Kim was expecting again. She was happy again when she found out that it was a girl. She got the girl she and Bosco wanted together. Could you ever imagine? Being two, three, four, and even five years old and getting told that you wasn't wanted, the man you lived with wasn't 'your' daddy, or even being told you have been regretted the moment the pregnancy test came back positive.
Every time I was being told that bullshit, I always imagined my father. How he might look, sound, smell, feel. Then my young mind shifted back into my reality. Maybe my father didn't want me in the first place and that's why Kim is the way she is towards me, maybe he don't care about me. I mean I haven't seen him not even a glance.
