Hi. My name is Carmen. You may think I'm your average 17 year old, but truth is, I'm a Half-Blood.
Now, you may be wondering, 'what exactly is a Half-Blood?' (Wow I sound like a freaking infomercial). A Half-Blood is someone who's half human, and half Greek god.
No, I'm not being sarcastic. I don't really do sarcasm.
That was a complete lie.
Anyway, to the point: I'm a daughter of Apollo, sent on a mission to retrieve a few Half-Bloods. You may know them as One Direction. And, cue the fangirl screams.
Yes, the band you all love and adore are half god. Not much of a surprise, is it?
Satyrs normally go on these types of missions, but all of them are busy helping Grover restore nature and all that.
Grover is one of the Wild gods. He may not sound intimidating, but believe me, he can be.
So now, here I am, at a One Direction concert, ready to save some lives!
The Aphrodite cabin really went all out disguising me as a 'Directioner.' I'm wearing a slim-fitting, black tee with the words 'I <3 1D' painted on it with glow-in-the-dark paint. Over that I have a pair of red suspenders (don't ask me why), black skinny jeans, and red converse. The Irish flag is painted on one side of my face, and the British one on the other. My hair is down in it's natural waves, and pinned out of my face by a cute carrot clip. a four leaf clover earring dangles from one ear, and a mirror on the other.
I do not get any of the costume, but the entire cabin assures me that all of it is essential.
My collapsible bow and my celestial bronze arrows are stuffed into a loose white backpack, and the cabin practically makes me swear on the River Styx to bring them back autographs.
I thank Argus for giving me a ride in the strawberry van, and make my way to the front row seats I was given. The atmosphere is tense with excitement, so much that my heart rate begins to pick up a little.
Hard as it is to admit, the Aphrodite cabin did a pretty good job. I get several compliments on my get up, and multiple nods of approval.
Time flies by and before I know it, it's 7:30 and the show is about to begin. The screams are deafening as the boys run onto the stage, but then the lights go out with a bang. The screams pick up again, but their tone is different. These are screams of fear.
I gasp as an entire section of the crowd sheds their disguises and emerge as scaly women, hideous creatures with matted fur and fangs, Chimeras, the works. Di Immortales! Did these guys have all the monsters in Tartarus after them?
Without second thought, I leaped onto the stage. Security guards were obviously not a problem, as they were busy ushering everyone out of the arena.
"If you wanna live, follow me," I yelled at the boys, grabbing the hand of one and pulling them away. We ran backstage, them confused, stumbling behind me.
I cursed under my breath as we were met face to face with a brick wall. My sharp, blue eyes quickly caught sight of the fire escape.
"You gonna let go of my hand anytime soon?" I turned around to find myself looking at someone with brown, curly hair, green eyes, and a cheeky smile. Without a word, I raised our still intertwined hands into the air and then let go, having his hand fall to his side for dramatic effect.
"There," I said sarcastically. "Okay, who wants to go first?"
Silence.
"Wow, not all at once," I snorted. "Guess it's gonna be me." With those words, I swung my legs over the windowsill, before dropping a few inches onto the metal. It echoed with a loud clanging sound, which probably alerted a lot of the monsters in the area we were there. Way to go, Carmen.
"Right," I began quickly, trying my best to sound calm and not panicked. "So we should probably hurry because they probably know we're here now, so it would be amazing if you would just GO!" I shouted the last bit, spurring them into action. The first one to go had lighter brown hair and gorgeous blue eyes, not that I was checking him out or anything.
"Climb as fast as you can," I instructed them as they poured out the window. The last one out was the cheeky one from earlier. He paused, holding out his hand.
"Harry," he smiled. I shot him a 'you-can-introduce-yourself-later-after-all-our-lives-aren't-in-mortal-peril' look, and sped down the stairs.
It was a wonder I didn't trip on anything, the way I was flying down three or four steps at a time with no plan to slow down. Suddenly the boys stopped in front of me, and after nearly slamming into them I nudged past to see the hold up.
The fire escape had ended, and we were still a good twenty-five feet above the ground.
"Alright, boys, new plan!" I put on a fake cheery voice. "We're climbing down the building!"
"What? Are you crazy?" The blonde one spoke up. "I'm not going."
"How can we be sure we can trust you?" Another brown-haired one questioned.
"Really? You're questioning me now?!" My voice was an octave higher as I heard loud footsteps pounding down the stairs above us. "How about we not die now, ask questions later?!"
They reluctantly agreed (the monsters above were good persuasion) and one at a time they leaped onto the building, the crumbling brick making for good handholds. Once again, me and that one annoying guy, Larry or something, were left together.
"I'll only go if you give me a kiss," he smirked. The monsters, who were now leaping from the fire escape onto our level, were the only things that made me agree.
"Okay, okay! I will! Now go!" I jumped off, him following me close behind. Seconds after, a Chimera leaped onto the building next to us, sending bricks flying down. It scrambled closer, snake tail hissing viciously.
I jumped the last ten feet, stupid decision on my part. Shock jolted up my leg, and my legs gave way underneath me. I would have hit the ground if a pair of arms hadn't caught me.
"You okay?" I found myself looking up into a pair of hazel eyes shining in the dark.
"Y-yeah. Fine," I muttered. He let go, and I walked a few paces, pain shooting through my legs every time they hit the ground. I gritted my teeth, pushing through the pain as we ran through the woods, monsters on our trail. I started to fall behind, spots swarming my vision.
Hazel eyes from before slowed down, concerned. "You sure you're okay?" He asked, glancing nervously behind us at the gaining swarm of monsters.
I had felt this feeling before, and knew I was going to pass out soon. I had to get the information to him. "Not much... time," I got out, gasping for air. "Camp... Long Island," I managed to breathe before everything went black.
