You and your boyfriend Sungyeol were on your brothers birthday party. It was fun there,you were talking with your family about your life in Korea,the people there and stuff like that,while your boyfriend was playing with your brother and the car that you two brought for him as a gift (let's just say that your brother is 8 years old). But you could still see the nervousness in his eyes. A few minutes later you heard him excusing himself and saw him standing up from the floor,heading out to the kitchen. Your aunt could sense your tension, so she just smiled at you and nodded to the kitchens direction signalling you to go after your boyfriend, so you excused yourself and went to the kitchen. He was leaning on the kitchen table and you saw him heavily sigh before he drank from his glass that he just re-filled with wine.
''Are you okay?'' you asked him with a slight smile.
''Yeah, I'm fine.'' he said, but you knew him too well to believe him.
He was still nervous and he did not feel certain ((is it the right phrase?)) in front of your family. You rarely had time to visit them, since both of you were busy with work, so he wasn't used to them.You knew your family accepted him and liked him (and even if not..it wouldn't affect your feelings for him) and he knew it too, he just wasn't used to a different culture (lifestyle), and just people in general. He tried as hard as he could to fit in, even if none of your family members wanted him to change. Not even you. He simply said that he wants to be polite, so you weren't complaining about it anymore. And frankly..your family was the same. They were learning some Korean words and also bought chopsticks to learn to eat with them. So on all the birthday parties everyone was eating with chopsticks. Sungyeol was really happy about it. It warmed him at his heart, but he still couldn't get used to this culture.
''Are you sure?'' you asked him not believing his words.
''Mhmm.'' he hummed.
''Are you really,really sure?'' you asked him again.
He didn't reply, he just looked down.
''Oh come on! I know it's hard for you, but pick yourself together. They like you for who you are. They know how amazing you are..just be a bit more confident and be yourself.It's not that hard.'' you said while putting your fingers on his chin to lift up his head.
He looked you in the eyes and smiled lightly.
''Thank you. I really needed this motivation right now. You know exactly how I feel and what helps me the most.'' he said with a cute smile.
You just smiled for yourself feeling proud. Then you came closer to him and you stuck yourself to him. You strongly embraced him, your cheek was strongly stuck to his chest. He hugged you back with one arm (he was still holding the wine glass in his other hand).
''I love you baby.'' he said quietly,just loud enough for you to hear.
''I love you too.'' you said happily, smiling.
''Hey you, Sungyeol! Are you coming already?'' your lil bro appeard in the kitchen searching for you..to be exact searching for your boyfriend.
''Yeah, let's go.'' he said giving a smile to your brother. He then kissed your forehead and went to your brother. Your brother held his hand and was bringing him back to the living room. Sungyeol was shocked by the sudden act. He turned his head to the side to look at you and smiled nervously.
''Fighting!'' you mouthed him while smiling widely.
The both of them disappeard in the living room, while you were still smiling widely for yourself.
''Aah, really?!'' you giggled, rolling your eyes jokingly. Then you went back to the living room too - to continue the conversation with your female family members (the men were sitting on the other side of the room talking about motorbikes and what not), and guess what?! Sungyeol was finally laughing and enjoying his time with your brother.
''He will be a great dad'' you thought and finally payed attention to the questions from your grandma, aunt and other female family members.
