Airplanes: chapter five

“Thanks I’ll swap them now.” I picked up the lunch box and smiled at Sona. She smiled back, “no problem, enjoy the rest of the day, will see you at registration am going to the library at second break.” Wait now I'm really confused, does that mean she wants me to come to the library and why did she say that she would see me at reg, and is she coming to my reg class to see me? “Ok cool have fun.” I waved as she walked off with her friends and then turned to Tay who was blushing for me. “What did all that mean?!” You could tell by my voice that I was so confused and frustrated. “To be honest I’m not completely sure hey I think you going to have to wait till reg to see what happens, but by the looks of it she is going to come see you.” Tay teased as she lifted her eyebrows up and down. “Well you right, will see what happens.”

The rest of the day actually went by pretty fast and I was shocked when I looked at the time and had only five minutes left till Reg. My hand began to shake as I took down the rest of the notes on the board and packed my things away in my bag. The bell rand as May came up to me with a huge smile on her face, " So you guys coming to the party right? my dad just got a chocolate fountain!" I barely heard what she said as I was so scared of what will happen at Reg so she lightly poked my arm and my mind jumped to the present. "Oh yeah sorry May, yup we are coming and that sounds really cool i cant wait I'm kind of in a rush to get to Reg chat later about the party ok?" I hugged her and raced out the door, I was scared yes, but, i was also extremely excited to see her again and see what happens. If she comes to my class then I will advance on this chase but if not then i will just back down and forget that this whole thing ever happened.

I walked to class and for the first time i actually took note of all the people around me instead of just looking down and my feet. i didn't spot her anywhere which made me feel a little disappointed thinking maybe she wouldn't come after all but as I turned the corridor to my class I took a quick peek into my sisters class and there in the very corner of the class sat the most beautiful girl platting her friends hair. I could not believe my eyes, she was in my sisters class this whole time? But why didn't I ever see her before, i have been in there so many times, surely i would have noticed her before. I was so amazed by this that i did not realise Tay standing right in front of me that i bashed right into her, sending us both into the ground on our butts. I cried out and heard a roar of laughter coming from the class and from the people on the corridor. I looked over at Tay and she looked back at me as we both sat on the floor and we burst out laughing while trying to get ourselves up off the ground. 

"Are you ok?" I heard her sudden voice right behind me through all of the laughter. I turned around and saw she was not amused at all but her face only showed that of concern. I could not stop laughing though and Tay was right by my side now still laughing with her hand on my shoulder. "I'm fine" i managed to choke out though my laughter and rubbed my butt. "My butt is still kinda sore though" just then i felt a hand sneak a squeeze at my butt and turned to see a fully flushed Tay winking at me while giggling. I turned back to Sona and she was giggling too, though I'm not sure why, did she see what Tay just did? but even is she did...did it effect her? I got over my laughter then and turned all my attention to Sona, " I had no idea you were in my sisters Reg class" She looked me dead in the eyes and i felt a little light headed all of a sudden. "Well i usually don't go to Reg because I'm in the library busy sorting out the books for the day but I changed my duty times so I can come to Reg.

She changed her times? why? could it be that she did it so that she could see me? It did sound like that, i felt a huge smile creep onto my face as i let this thought circulate in my head for a while. "well i have to get back in before i get into trouble see you tomorrow Nikki" she turned to leave and i blurted out something along the lines of "give me your number" which came out more of a demand than a question and at that moment i wanted nothing more than to just crawl into a little whole and die. WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT NIKKI?! i screamed at myself in my head as i stared at Sona who just politely smiled back like she was waiting for something. i then realised she was waiting for me to take out my cell so that i could save her number and she repeated  the first part as trying to say "are you going to take out your cell anytime soon?" I reached for my cell and handed it to her for her to put in her digits in case i got it wrong and i did not want that to happen. "in case i enter it in wrong" i handed the phone and she typed it in and gave it back, looking completely normal. Damn i hate that i cannot read her feelings at all, i have no idea what she probably felt. 

The next couple of days that went by were filled of texting between Sona and i  the occational calls which were started by me but whenever I called and she could not tatke the call she would always call back. This began to look promising and as i got to know her i started to fall more and more for her. She was so different, she liked the simple things in life, she was the type of girl who took the time to look at the clouds in the morning, or feel the soft leaves of the trees during the busy day. The type of girl who would see a piece of litter on the floor and pick it up to throw it away. But if i had to pick a few words to describe her i would say that, Sona is good, a pure hearted person, someone who would go out of their way just to make sure that you are ok. People like that, in this day and age were defiantly rare. 

It was the Friday before May's party, I had just gotten home, plopped on my bed and took out my cell to call Sona. Like so many times before my tummy was filled with butterflies, i could not help but feel nervous as wait for her to answer-not that she takes long- and every time without fail as soon as i hear that "hi" my breath zooms out of my mouth, my eyes close and i picture her lips mouthing out the word. "Nik", always two seconds late to reply because i am so caught up by her voice. "Hey Sona, sorry, how you doing? i just got home now" I looked over to my closet were I had my outfit for May's party. "I'm so tired, I left the library early today, think I'm coming down with the flu or something, hey are done planning your outfit for the party tomorrow?" How did she do that? how did she just know exactly what i was thinking of? "that's so weird i was just looking at it now, I'm wearing my ripped skinnies, black Chucks, white tee with black ninja Hood, what you think?"  she though for a little while then "I think that it's very you, which is perfect"

perfect....perfect....did she just? no no it cant be...did she just call me perfect? Is she flirting?...or is she just being nice...? ok this is so confusing, i should just come right out and ask her if she is interested in girls. Right i can do this, its the time, my courage has escaladed to cloud 9, i can so do this, "Sona"- "I think my dad is home, I needed to talk to him about my university forms so you think maybe we can chat later Nikki?" there goes my courage down the drain. "yeah sure we can, no problem hey, chat later bye" I felt like such a coward, but maybe it wouldve ruined everything, i mean i dont think i really want to know, i think am scared of the answer. " Ok thanks Nix, bye..." I expected her to cut the call because i really did not want to this time, but she didnt she waited on the line. "Sona?" I was a little confused now, usualy she would cut the call...wait actually i never waited to see who would cut the call first. "yes haha..put the phone down Nix.."

Then i realised that I always put the phone down first but never wanted to and now it seems like she doesnt want to either.."Wait , what? why me...you hang up..." I chuckled. "No I dont want to hang up first...you hang up first." This went on till i heard her sister scream "Just put the phone down already i need to use it!" We both burst out laughing, "Ok Nix on the count of three, one...two...three"... Silence..."Sona?"..."Nix just put the phone down haha, this is insane." You could so fry an egg on my face at the moment. "Ok fine but only because your sis needs the phone and you need to talk to your dad, i cut the call. As soon as I put the phone down i just stood there smiling, WHAT WAS THAT?! Now i know that is not normal for friends, i have never done that with any of my friends before not even Tay. 

Oh crap just then I remembered i needed to call Tay to sort out the transport for tomorrow. i called Tay and we made the arrangements and i told her all about the phone call with Sona. She seem to think that it meant something, i dont know what is it but Tay has been so distracted lately, and she wont tell me what happened or why but i know that there is something going on and she will have to tell me sooner or later. We chatted a little more and i finished my homework and spent the rest of the night reading "The kite runner". I was really excited for tomorrow little did i know just what tomorrow's party would bring.
