Dark was choking the life out of the little light that was left outside. The inside on the other side was full of lights, annoying bright lights. I stood next to the checkout as Oliver paid for our liquor. We had gone to a liquor shop to buy some alcohol to celebrate our ‘losses. The little TV in the corner of the store had already announced that the house had burnt down and that a woman was found dead. They considered it to be a suicide since she had lost her husband and her son was nowhere to be found. Little did they know that her ‘nowhere to be found’ son was the cause of all this.

“Thanks.” The girl in the shop waved at us as we left the store. I swear to god we had brought just enough alcohol to kill a whole army with. We turned out of the little store’s parking lot and out on the main road. Both of us were considered dead in the police eyes and we tried keeping it that way. If we got seen by anyone that might know us, they would go tell the police and we would get in hell of a lot trouble. That’s why we had drove to the town next to my parent’s. Nobody would ever find us there.

I decided to find a little abandoned place where Oliver and I could celebrate. It took some time for me to find that kind of place since I had never been in town before. But too my luck Oliver had been here before and pointed out a perfect place on the map we had bought. It was a little clearing in the wood alongside a dirt road. There were just enough moonlight outside and made it somewhat romantic.

At the moment Oliver and I lay on top of the hood of my car. Each of us had our own bottle of alcohol we downed. It was our second bottle and the alcohol was certainly starting to take effect. We tried having a conversation, but the alcohol took effect and we ended up having a make out session instead. Too be honest I liked Oliver the most when he was making out and touching me. Not that I didn’t like him otherwise, because I really did. I loved him so much, and was ready to sacrifice anything for him at any given moment. But I had already sacrificed almost every possible thing for him already, so there couldn’t be more too ask for now.

Just as I was getting to the good part, Oliver pulled away and slid of the hood of my car. He then lay down on the ground and disappeared into the dark. Like the curious person I was I followed him. I lay down and crawled around. It must have looked really stupid for anyone else but me and Oliver, but not many people came here anyways so they wouldn’t care. Besides we were totally wasted and could do whatever we wanted.

I crawled alongside my car wondering where Oliver was. For a moment I thought he had gotten into the car without me hearing. I tried getting up put slipped on some leaves and fell back. My eyes scanned over the stars on the dark canvas in the sky. It was really pretty; they reminded me off the flames that had burnt through my parent’s house. Flames had always calmed me down.

I took a lighter out of my pocket and lit it. The flame immediately calmed me down, and I ended up watching it go away, and come back. I started laughing and singing as loud as I could.

“Love is a burning thing, and it makes fiery ring, bound by wild desire, I fell into a ring of fire, I fell into a burning ring of fire, I went down, down, down, and the flames went higher.”

Oliver suddenly lay down next to me. He must have heard my bad singing. We both lay there singing badly to Johnny Cash’s “ring of fire”. It most have scared all the birds that were chattering out so loudly to each other just a moment ago. As the song came to an end Oliver poured the remainder of his alcohol over us as he cheered out loudly.

“Ey, Oliver! That’s some piss dude.” Oliver got up and ran as fast as he could away from me. I got up after and ran after him. He was impossible to catch and I swear to god that we went on like this for at least 10 minutes before I finally caught him. When I did I attacked him and pulled him into a hug. He tried fighting me off but I threw him over my shoulder instead. Lucky enough for me he was so skinny and light weighted that it didn’t become much of a struggle for me to carry him.
