|Annabelle |
Christmas was around the corner and my Mom decided to do some last minute shopping by herself. I would have gone with her but the air wasn't welcoming. As soon as the cold wind nipped at my cheeks, I altered my decision and stayed at home where I knew it wouldn't be like the ice age.
Nate was nestled up with blankets in the living room watching How I Met Your Mother. I would go ahead and join him if it wasn't for the fact that I felt comfortable in my bed. I was enjoying the peace and quiet that was finally offered.
But...of course...peace and quiet doesn't last as long as you want it.
"Annabelle, your grumpy friend decided to pay you a visit," Nate yelled from the other side of my door. Who can possibly come visit me? My guess is on Christian since he loves surprising me by entering the house without permission.
"I'm not her friend, and who are you?" I'm imagining things right? That can't probably be him right? We're not even speaking to begin with so I must be really hearing strange things...right?
"The door's open, Nate." I replied, getting up from the bed.
"I'm Annabelle's boyfriend," I heard my brother say. O my, why is he saying that? I sometimes think half of my brother's brain is missing and I need to find it.
"...She never told me she had a boyfriend." There go my chances on pretending that it wasn't him. If that annoyed, rude voice didn't tell me it was him that I don't know what does.
My door swung open giving me a view of Cody glaring at my smirking brother.
"Cody, what are you doing here?" I confounded.
It took him about three seconds to move his glare away from Nate to direct it to me but it instead he just gave me a blank stare.
"I need a place to crash for the night," he bluntly declared.
"Oh, and you thought that I would let you stay here," I chuckled, adding the part. "There's the door, don't let it hit you on the way out." I supposed with no emotion.
"Why, because your boyfriend and you are going to spend the night?" He exasperated, giving me a weird look.
"Why do you even need a place to crash? Your house is next door," I pointed out the obvious.
"I wouldn't be here if I didn't know that," he countered. "Unfortunately, my parents decided to take Alli and Tom to Disneyland and they won't be coming until late at night."
"Why didn't you go them?"
"I was at...a friend's house and I didn't want to tag along," he smirked when he mentioned 'friend'.
"Oh, I know, ask your "friend" if you can stay at their place. I'm sure they'll love having you for the night than only an hour." I frowned.
"I don't think Christian thinks of me that way," he smirked. I felt my face heating up. I just made myself look like an idiot. That's great. "Plus, his mom and him are picking up their grandma from the airport right about now."
"You'll never win with this one," Nate chimed in.
"I never asked for your input," Cody rudely replied. He simpered.
