Jason walked back to the alley way where he thought Jessica's little house was. He walked up the the wooden piece the hid the entrance. He knocked. No one answered so he decided to walked inside. It was just as he remembered. The dog was sleeping on the couch. He walked slowly around the small room, careful not to wake the dog that seemed harmless, but you never knew. Jessica seemed to be out. Jason saw the fridge and his stomach grumbled for some decent food. He quietly opened the door of the refrigerator, still careful of the dog. There wasn't much in there. there was two water bottles, an apple, three oranges and a can of Root Beer. Oh... and a plastic container of chicken.
Jason grabbed an orange and a handful of shredded chicken from the container. Completely forgetting of the possibly ferocious dog Jason kept searching around the small room. he was near the couch when he tripped on his own shoelace, landing on the orange which juice splattered everywhere. At the same time he saw a sparkle.
Unable to control his curiosity, Jason started to walk towards the back of the couch. "What are you doing here?",he heard a girls voice say. Startled he quickly turned toward the entrance where the noise was coming from. It was Jessica. "Where did you,go last time and why are you here?" She asked.
"Please don't run off again, I know I asked to many questions last time, so never mind."
"Um.... I was just... visiting Molly." Jason said, petting the pup.
"Awwww. Well thanks for stopping by. That was nice of you."
Jason started to walk out feeling failed, but Jessica stopped him. She told him she wanted to show him something. He stopped, wondering if she was going to show him what ever that shiny thing in the corner was. Instead, she lead him to the other side of the room. She took a golden framed picture and showed it to him. It showed a newborn baby in a bright blue blanket. And a mother with a face so caring and loving, like no other. It reminded him of his own mother, who he missed with all his aching heart."Is that your mom?" He asked her.
"yea..." She replied, her voice full of sorrow. Jason looked up and saw a tear rolling down her cheek. He turned around, not wanting the sadness any longer, and saw the shimmer again. He wanted to ask her what it was, but felt it rude to interrupt her moment of tears. Molly walked over and sat on the floor next to them. They both knelt down and pet her for comfort.
