Mare's POV

•••••••One week later, the day before filming•••••••

Today is the day that I'm flying to New York City. I live in New Orleans, so I've got a pretty friggin long plane flight ahead of me. I dash up to my room to make sure that I haven't forgotten anything. I spy my laptop charger perched precariously on the edge of my bed and snatch it up. I better not forget that. I cram it into my already-full bag, and rush downstairs.
I stumble awkwardly outside and lock the door behind me. I'm startled when I see a limo parked in my drive way. I them remember the email that I received, saying that I had to be escorted to the airport due to that fact that I was considered 'famous' now. I'm not famous, I'm just plain old Mareea (Mare's real name. Pronounced Ma-ri-a). I push my thoughts aside and slide ungracefully into the back of the limousine.
The driver instantly starts driving, and we have arrived at the airport in no time. I thank the chauffeur as I get out of the car and collect my bags. I walk through the large glass doors of the airport and a few people appear out of nowhere, taking my bags and telling me to go and sit in the waiting area. I find a vacant seat between an elderly lady chatting on the phone and a handsome man around my age.
He looks up from his phone and smiles at me as I sit down.
"Hi, I'm James." He introduces himself, extending a hand for me to shake.
"Mareea." I respond, taking his hand in mine and pumping it up and down briefly.
"That's a lovely name." He grins.
"Thank you." I giggle.
We sit in silence for a few seconds.
"So, where are you headed?" He questions after a moment.
"New York." I reply.
"What a coincidence! Me too!" He exclaims,
"Are you visiting someone? A friend? Boyfriend?"
"No way!" I chuckle,
"I'm the bachelorette."
"I thought you looked familiar!" He almost shouts
"I'm competing to win your heart, darling. I guess I'm already one step ahead of all those other bastards." He sniggers.
"I thought I wasn't supposed to meet the competitors until we filmed the first episode!" I gasped,
"We're gonna be in some deep shit."
"No one has to know. We can just pretend like we don't know each other." He winks.
I agree with him and we lapse into silence.
"Flight 37 to New York City is now boarding." Booms a voice over the loudspeaker.
"That's us." I mumble. James picks up all his luggage.
"See ya tomorrow, sweetie." He says, giving me an awkward one-armed hug. I find it difficult to hug him back due to the many bags that he is carrying.
"Bye James." I whisper to him. He smiles at me before he disappears into the crowd. I follow his lead and board the plane, finding my seat at the back. I can't see James anywhere. Oh well, at least I'll see him tomorrow.
