Chapter 3
The bright afternoon sky gradually fades as it was replaced by the arising darkness. Nimbus clouds started to cling together, covering the horizon until the superior sun prematurely retired. The thunder and lightning seems like twins that don't want to get ahead of each other, simultaneously firing the best they can give. Then, raindrops begin to fall creating puddles on the land. Cold breeze is filling the atmosphere sending shivers to those who are outside.
A storm is approaching.
Thea woke up from a wonderful dream, reliving the first time she saw her first love. But as it was a dream, it is quickly succeeded by reality. Her eyes begin to water. She questioned herself again why this thing happened. She still couldn't believe that her loving husband left at such manner. How can she move on with her life especially now that she have two little angels to care for?
Thea opened her still sleepy peepers and looked around the plain white room. There's a painting of a peaceful ocean hanging on the left side of the wall, a two-seater sofa in front of her bed, a 21-inch lcd tv on top of a mini wooden cabinet and 1-door refrigerator. She can't help but faintly smile when she glanced at a bunch of pink carnations tied with a bow in a translucent vase that beautifully stand in the center of the bedside table. Her favorite. Then her heart fluttered when she felt a warm grip on her left hand. There's a man who had fallen asleep sitting on the chair with his head bowed down.
She knew very well how this man had lend his hands through all what happened. And deep inside her being, she wished she could still cling to him. Selfish as it may sound, she will beg him just to help her get back on her knees because he's the only one she can turn to since all her loved ones had given up on her.
She was about to touch his face when he slowly open his eyes. He flashed a heart-warming smile and said, "Hey, you're awake. How do you feel?"
She answered back, "A little bit nauseous and my abdomen hurts, but I can tolerate it."
"Are you sure? I can ask the nurse if she can give you medications," he told her worriedly.
"It's not necessary, it's really okay. But where are my babies?," she asked.
"They are in the nursery for observation. The pediatrician told me that they will watch over them for the first twenty four hours," he informed. "Don't worry, they are fine. Did you hear their loud cries when they were delivered?"
"Yes. I was able to see them. They're lovely," she proudly said. She sniffs trying not to cry as she recalls the moment she kissed her twins upon delivery.
"You know, I've been meaning to ask you..."
"Ask me what?," she interrupted.
He scratched his head and inquired, "Did you know you're carrying twins?"
She smiled softly, "Of course."
"But why didn't you tell us?"
"Oppa, because I want to surprise him." Her smile immediately fades. Then as the heavy raindrops strike the glass windows, she broke and released the aches.
