You ever imagined what it would be like to die?
I mean, literally, die. Like in, the cat ate me, I can't feel my legs anymore, that boy in the coffin looks just like me, kind of dead.
No? Never? Well, that's ok, I guess. No one can just come back to life and tell you "Dude, it was awesome! Better than that time I did it with Deborah Wilson on the back-seat of my car."
That can't happen. Or at least I haven't heard anything like that ever happening.
So, another question that won't be answered anytime soon is "What awaits us after death?" Nothing? Heaven, like Christians and many other religions of the world say? Or maybe, the Reincarnation, Buddhists believe in?
What I'm trying to say is that, there are some questions the world has not managed to answer, with bullet-proof evidence to back them up.
That leads me to the present situation I find myself in.
Short intro. My name was Levi Ivy. I was seventeen. I had a mother, a father and one annoying little sister, Cameron. I was going to start my junior year in high school. I had two best friends, James and Blake. I was going to ask the girl I liked, Sinthia, if she wanted to go out with me. I wanted to become a teacher.
You ask me what's with all the 'was' and 'wanted'? Well, everything went down the drain a couple of seconds ago, when, on my way to school, a car crashed into me. Dead on the spot. Me, not the driver. He seemes to have had a heart attack, or something.
Whoa! Why do I see myself dead under that car? And what's with all the people around my body? Hello, there! I'm right here! Why doesn't anyone hear me? Oh, right. I'm dead. So then, why am I still here?
*Because you have been given a second chance.*
Wait. Who's that? Who are you? Why can't I see you?
*Again, because you have been given a second chance.*
What do you mean, a second chance? A second chance at what?
*A second chance at life, Levi. It was not meant for you to die in the crash. The driver was. He had a heart attack. Unfortunately, you happened to be at the wrong place, at the wrong time. We are not meant to interfere into mortal's lives. But you are not alive anymore, not are you completely dead yet, otherwise you would have been able to see me.*
So what does that mean? I'm not realy dead, but I'm not alive eaither? Than what happens now?
*You will be given a completely new life. It would be impossible to give you your old one back. Your body can't anchor a soul anymore. You will be reborn within a completely new body. But you will have to make a choice, Levi.*
A choice?
*Yes. Because it was not a natural death, caused by an illness, old age or suicide, you have been given a choice. Be reborn as a human, but with no recollection of your previous life. Or be given the life of another creature, and you can keep every single one of your memories. What do you choose?*
Wha-? How should I know? I've just died! It's kind of difficult time to be asking me something like this, don't you think?
*I'm sorry, Levi. But this is a choice you have to make pretty soon. Otherwise you'll be lost to the unknown. You will be staying among the living, never able to be seen or heard by anyone, forever sentenced to loneliness. It would be cruel to lose your only chance at a new beginning.*
