A Thousand Origami Cranes

Laying a bamboo shelves

A tug of a paper tail,

A flap of paper wings

Produce no lift.

A Thousand Origami Cranes

Trapped in bamboo cages

Standing silently, paper soldiers

For an army only on paper

Forever waiting stoically

A Thousand Origami Cranes

Paper wings, paper tails,

Move only by a clever fold

Trapped by humanity's ingenious

Longing to be free

A Thousand Origami Crames

Paper mind, paper heart

Used to express

Messages of adoration

Waiting to be read

A Thousand Origami Cranes

Unfolded, discarded

The heart's message has been read,

Ignored and refused

By a glass statue with an empty heart

The Puppeteer

Waits at a window's edge

Watching raindrops paint an abstract picture

Waiting for the response of

A Thousand Origami Cranes
