The text that started it all

When I finally got home, I sat on my bed, pulled out the delicately folded piece of paper that was put safely into my pocket and started typing the numbers into my contact list. I could hardly believe this was real and triple checked that there was a correct number of digits. For hours I contemplated whether or not I should text now or later, then what was I going to say? Should I say "you gave me your number"? She probably knew that. Should I say when shall we meet up or is that desperate? After a lot of thinking, I decided to go with "Hey Lilly, it's Rosie x". I instantly regretted the moment I hit send, was I too eager? Was the "X" too risky? I can feel my heart beating again as beads of sweat formed on my forehead. I needed to put my phone away and calm down, but as soon as I did, there was a ding. I looked to find the name "Lilly" illuminating my screen. I simply stared in shock at what was happening right now. Is this real? Was I dreaming? My shaky hands unlocked the phone to read her message, would she be freaked out? No, she wasn't and there was a huge grin on my face as I read; "Heyyyy, I got worried you forgot about me! Xxx". Three kisses?!? Three kisses? Was this all a joke? Wait, has she been thinking about me? Waiting for my text? My heart was beating right out of my chest, I had to reply fast before she realised who she was talking to. "Of course I didn't forget xxx". I decided to keep it simple, let her take the lead of the conversation, I didn't want to seem like I was head over heals for her. She instantly replied back with; "Are you free tomorrow straight after school? We can go to Tea and Cakes and work on our homework xxx" I had to forcefully stop myself from screaming yes. I was over the moon, I know it was not a date but, we were spending time together, out of school, alone. Even if nothing happens, I still want to be her friend, how could I not?
"Yes, that sounds great, I'll bring my book and meet you at the gates xxx".
