"Now that, that is done, do you want to stick around or you can go if you want" I asked her with a sense of worry in my tone
"Well I could go home, but I'd rather just stay here" she looked at me for a split second then quickly looked away. "Let's go down and see what's on tv?" She said as I followed her down to my living room. Even though, this was the first time she had come over, it's as if she knew the place like the back of her hand.

We got to the living and sat down on the sofa, which faced the tv. I grabbed the remote and started flicking through the channels until I got to MTV and she shouted "stop, stop, stop". I jumped and put the remote down, looked at what's on the tv and laughed. "Please don't tell me you watch this?"
Her cheeks reddened as she said "hey don't judge okay. I like it" she turned back to the television, as she watched keeping up with the Kardashians. I never really watched this, but it was adorable how much she wanted to watch it so I got myself comfortable.

A little in to the show, Lilly grabbed the remote and turned down the volume, "Hey, why have we only been talking since the homework was set?" She turned her body to face mine, her legs were crossed on the sofa, I mimicked her.
"I don't know. I guess I've always been too nervous to say anything"
"Why were you nervous?"
"Because.... Because you're Lilly, everybody loves you, you have so many friends and I'm just, me"
"Rosie, don't say that. I don't care who you are and who I am, you're amazing to talk to. I'll always be your friend" her words sounded angelic as she placed her hand on my arm in a comforting way. A way that produced me to nervously laugh. She called me amazing. Me? This could have easily all been some sort of prank but her face and voice was so genuine, so serious, it can't have been.
"Rosie, can I be honest with you?"
"Of course". I said, she took a deep breathe then said "The first time I saw you, I thought you were gorgeous, you still are. But then, when we talked, I realised something. I know we've only spoken for a short amount of time, but, Rosie, I like you. You're funny, smart, kind and I really do like you" There was a pause as I tried to process the words she was saying. At that moment, I should have been too nervous to talk, but I felt confident enough to say "I really like you too". Her big brown eyes stared in to mine and she smiled the most beautiful smile she ever had. I smiled back. The world was spinning around me, but out of everything, we were still, staring into each other's eyes.

The rest of the day we silently sat in each other's arms, cuddled up on the sofa, watching whatever came on tv. Until she announced she had to get home. She hugged me goodbye, holding on tightly, a little longer than friends would, and she left without saying another word.

In that moment, I knew, things would never be the same.
