I had only seen him once. I was walking through the fields. I come to the fields regularly. It's such a peaceful, relaxing place where I come to get away from all the drama at home. I was strolling along, when suddenly I heard someone’s voice, it was quiet and deep but I could just about hear what he was saying. There was a weird tone to his voice, like he was lost. All of a sudden it went cold. I looked up to see the bright, yellow sun shining above me. My eyes came back down to look at my skin, which was now covered in goose bumps. I didn't understand what was happening. I wanted to turn back, but I was frozen. My brain was sending alarm systems and telling me to get out of there, however, my body stayed still. I noticed that my body didn't want to move, rather than it couldn't move.
Can’t go back, must stay.
There it was again, the low drone. That’s all I could hear him say, he kept repeating himself over and over.
Can’t go back, must stay.
I was trying to figure out where the voice was coming from, but the chirping birds blocked out any sound.
Can’t go back, must stay.
I stopped. There was something unusual in the way he spoke that time that made me turn. It had suddenly all gone silent; I couldn’t hear anything after that, not even the birds. And that’s when I saw him
He was lay down in the middle of the long grass but I could still see him, only just. I crept up, slowly. One foot at a time, until I got close enough to see his face. He had a pale face and big brown chocolate eyes with huge black pupils. His lips were a pale peachy colour and he had a golden ring pierced into it. His hair was dark brown and messy. I couldn't see clearly but he looked quite tall, definitely taller than me. I needed to get closer but there was something stopping me, something making me tremble with fear to even take one more step. But i fought against it and as quietly as i could, i stepped forward. Then again. Then again. CRACK I froze, gasping, looking down to wear my feet had cracked some twigs. Panicking i looked back up, to see his big brown eyes looking straight at me.
