After two weeks of Harry not calling I assumed he would never call. My friend Jamie called. She asked me to go out with her and her boyfriend to be the awkward third wheel. I accepted because I had no plans. And what's the use of waiting by the phone.

At quarter to 6 there was a knock on the door. I went to it and looked through the peephole. I saw Jamie and an over sided college kid, her boyfriend, James.

James was a football player. He was young, 18 at the most, he had a medium build. Brown hair blue eyes. A regular pretty boy.

Jamie on the other hand was like me. She didn't play sport. She was a nerd. But still a cheerleader. She had never been kissed until James and has yet to be touched. I sometime stink about kissing her. But that's wrong.

The word thing is are friendship began on a common hatred of the jock boys thinking it's an obligation of cheerleaders have to date jocks.

I wasn't pretty enough to be a cheerleader. But I was pretty enough to be in gymnastics. Jamie started playing it after she met James. Saying she needed to make sure she kept in shape. She didn't. She was skinny and barely ate and worked out 16 hours a day. Gymnastics, cheerleading and at her home gym and she always attends gym class.

She was wearing a pair of high waist booty shorts, a tank top that had a nirvana sign on it, and a bomber jacket just like mine. Denim everywhere both the arms were light brown leather.

I was wearing my bombers jacket, a pair of light blue skinny jeans, a shirt that said 'summer love' but between the lo and the ve were two arrows crossing. Something to do with star cross lovers I think. I had a pair of blue ombré converse.

The California night air was chilly but damp. I sat in the back of James's convertible. His dad had struck oil in Texas. They were new money. We were no money. He drove to this sketchy bar. Which lets anyone in.

Jamie complained about not going without food because your not supposed to drink with out food in your system or you get sick. I suggested that we could go to the diner but Jamie said no. That was our place. So we went to the pizza place.

When we go there I saw the locks of curls in a booth. He was a girl and 3 boys. When he saw me he nodded his head at me. I looked away an ordered pizza for James, Jamie, and I.

I went and sat down at the table.

"Jane is coming to hang out with us" Jamie said.

After 10 minutes Jane showed up. And the pizza came. When I looked at Harry's booth he was staring at me. Or the back of Jane's head. I waved at him but one of the boys drew his attention away from me. I got up and went to get a pink lemonade. Harry met me at the counter to my surprise he talked to me.

"Hello" he said.

"How are you?" I asked.

"It's so typical for me to talk about myself I'm sorry" he said. "How are you?"

"Good" I shrugged. "School is school"

"Cool" he said. "Sorry I haven't called"

"You have called such a shock" I said fake gasping. He chuckled.

"Your something else." He laughed.

My pink lemonade came. I started walking away.
