Third POV:

High School runs on a very specific rule book. Keep your head down, don't cause a scene, and most of all find your group. There are a lot of groups to choose from. There's the Asian society, nerd squad, mathletes, goths, misfits, anime talkers, band geeks, orcha-dorks, choir liars, and the jocks. Those are just some of them. Then there are the two main ones. They are royalty, the popular kids, but I guess it is true what they say. To be a true leader, you've got to be a bitch. Because the populars are known as the Court princess's. Then there are the boy equivalents, they're known as the Court prince's. You now that set of rules I listed before?

Well there is one more. Don't mess with royalty, and if you do you end up in the guillotine.

As Katherine walked to her first day of school. She couldn't believe that she's already a junior. She admired the flowers while listening to soft rock. She couldn't help but think about all that she's been through. A sharp pain rips through her chest at the though of her dad, she was always a daddy's girl.

As her eyes start to water up she turns her mind to her best friend, her sister by heart Caroline. Caroline and her had been friends since they where babies, they never left each others sides, simply inseparable. When Caroline left for South Korea she was sad, but happy for her because she was helping people who needed it most. Katherine wished her other half was here with her for what would have been their first day of high school, or at least her brother who was a senior.  She didn't talk to anyone her first period. Then during passing period, she has an unfortunate run in with who she quickly learned to be the schools princess or queen bitch. Katherine was walking down the hall keeping her eyes trained on the floor when she ran into something.

"Ow!" Katherine screeched in pain. When she looked up she noticed the one person, that would make her hell, even worse. Tally Manlynn. Queen "Bee" of our favorite monarchy.

"What? Can you not walk?" Tally snapped in her high pitched fake voice as she flips her long blonde hair out of her make up covered face.

"I-I'm sorry, I wasn't paying attention," Katherine answered shakily while fumbling with the end of her shirt. Katherine was smart, and she never really got bullied. Though she was very shy. The complete opposite of her brother, but of course her brother was the one who bullied everyone.

"Heh, don't let it happen again," Tally answered. Katherine picked up her books, and left. Katherine was left at a total loss. She went to her locker, and turned the dial. After that she grabbed her books, and headed for her third period, Math, everyone's favorite subject. She was smart enough to be in Honors for now, but she had her worst grade in that class.

Katherine went to the back of the classroom, and sat down in the blue squeaky chair. The classroom had a window with a beautiful view, and she had front row seats. She was sitting so that she could reach out and touch the window. The flowers outside reminded her of her walk to school in the morning. She quickly pushed it from her thoughts as her eyes welled up with tears. Blinking them back she pulled out her math book, and did some practice problems.

A short pudgy black haired women who looked to be in her 50's stalked into the room with a scowl on her face. Oh great this was her math teacher. She started reading of a list to take attendance.

"Lamiya Allison," the teacher called out, who's name she learned was Mrs. Dodds.

"Here," called out someone, who's name was probably Lamiya. After that Katherine zoned out into an uncaring thought. She was thinking about last year. She was at the top of the food chain. Then again she only had one friend who ended up becoming an exchange student in South Korea. South Korea had a major accident so Caroline went to go help the children and families. Gosh, she missed Caroline. Katherine loved Caroline so much, and they were best friends forever. Katherine assumed Caroline would switch to Katherine's new school when she comes back. Caroline hated our old school because of all the arrogant boys.

"-thrine, -athrine- KATHRINE," Kathrine was broken out of her thoughts by someone freaking screaming her name at the top of their lungs.

"Yes! Oh, my gosh. I am so sorry. I wasn't paying attention. I just zoned out. Again I am so so so sorry," Katherine explained.

"Well, if you think my class is something you can blow off than please, be my guest, and come solve this problem," the teacher snarkily replied. Katherine got up and went to the board where there was a problem that she could easily solve. It was a simple Pythagorean Theorem.

She figured out that one of the legs was 4, and then the rest was easy from there

She figured out that one of the legs was 4, and then the rest was easy from there. Her final answer was 8, and she gave her answer to the teacher.

"Apparently you need to pay a little more attention in your math classes, because you're wrong," Mrs. Dodds, said.

"With all do respect Mam, no I am not," Katherine answered. The teacher gave her a glare, and if glares could kill, she would be dead right now.

"Please then prove me wrong. I am sure you have grounds to backup your answer if you are confident enough to challenge the teacher," Mrs. Dodds snarled. Katherine wrote out her answer, and explained to the entire class. She knew she was right, and the thing she was trying to figure out was how she got herself into this mess in the first place.

"I am fairly certain I am right, but please feel free to prove me wrong, mam," Katherine answered. She knew she was pushing her life, but she didn't care at all. Mrs. Dodds cleared her throat before answering while looking at the answer sheet.

"Yes, um, you are correct, very good. Now out of all of you, Katherine is the only one who has shown to be worthy to be in Honors," Mrs. Dodds replied. What just happened had Katherine pinned as a nerd.

Crap, Katherine was still wondering how the hell she was going to weasel her way out of this one, but she decided to go back to her seat. She stuck earbuds in, and tried to drown out the world for now. Katherine couldn't decide if Mrs. Dodds had made her a target on her back on accident or on purpose, but it didn't matter. All that mattered was getting to lunch without getting mobbed.
