I was in the middle of my thoughts when the pain sharpened suddenly in my right side. I gasped for air, but I just couldn't seems to get any. That's when the coughing began and warm liquid dripped down my chin.

The last thing I heard was a string of cus words before darkness took a hold of me.

Vincent's POV

I kept playing it over in my head. The beautiful auburn haired beauty ran into me. I was so entranced staring at her I hadn't realized Kyle until his filthy hand grabbed her arm.

I wanted to cut it off. These feelings were so unfamiliar for me. I got angry and wanted to dismiss the girl as just another girl, but watching her sleeping form in my bed I felt a smile creep on my face.

"Boss," I looked up as Ralph entered my room.

"What," I growled. I was not in the mood to be bothered.

"The Salvino Brother's are back to report in." I sighed and reluctantly headed to my office.

Ariel's POV

It was warm and soft. I snuggled into the silk sheets pulling the fluffy comforter further up. I smiled but instantly stiffened. Kyle's bed wasn't this soft.

My eyes shot open and I gasped at the pain and fell back against the pillows trying to steady my now spinning sight. "Damn," I gasped.

That's when the memory of the recent events crashed back against me. Looking around and noticing the IV in my arm that i really had gotten away. For now anyway. I signed and took in my dark surroundings.

It was definitely not like any hospital room I had ever seen. The king size canopy bed was real cherry wood. The mirror above me just affirmed this was no hospital.

Then where the hell am I?

"Your awake." I turned to see a beautiful black haired woman entering the room with a tray of food. Setting it beside the bed she smiled at me.

I smiled at her friendliness. "Yes, where exactly am I?" Her smile fell.

She hesitated, " Well the Boss brought you in two days ago. You were about dead. Your at Mr. Marcello's Estate."

What? Marcello. Like the Marcello Crime Family!

"Yes," I gasped and about jumped across the bed had I not been injured I would have. "I am Vincent Marcello. Glad to see my family's reputation is so well known." He smirked and it pissed me off.

Had I not been injured and fearing for my life i would have glared at him. He sighed sitting in the chair next to my bed. The lamp on the bed side table came on in time for me to see the fast retreating form of the girl I had been talking to.

My eyes returned to Mr. Marcello. He looked so tired like he hadn't been sleeping. The red eyes and messy jet black hair and wrinkled suit shirt was a dead give away.

We sat staring at each other for a while before I broke the silence. "It's not that I ain't grateful for you saving me, but ... Why?" I finished on a whisper looking down at my hands.

At first I was sure he wasn't going to answer me, but he sighed placing my tray of food on my lap. "Eat," he ordered. I wasn't going to argue. I saw him lean forward in his chair resting in elbows on his knees as he seemed to observe me.

I began eating the eggs, bacon, and hash browns slowly. "I never had much respect for men like Kyle and he pissed me off. I was going to send you on your way but you began coughing up blood. I don't need the press attention about a woman dying at my newly opened club." He finished nonchantly. I felt some what disappointed. I got angry at myself. God Ariel you just met the man.

He is a mob Boss for gods sake!

"Oh," I took another bite before looking over at him. "Now what?" Surely he didn't bring me here give me medical treatment only to kill me.

"I suppose that's up to you," he leaned back in his chair elbows now on the chairs arms fingers together in front of his chest. He very much resembled a sexy bad boy smirking at his prey.

It had my chest tightening my insides melting the way he was looking at me.

"Wh-what do you mean?" I stuttered out.

"Well I have been looking for a new cook. I heard from a little birdy you use to work a a very respectable Italian restaurant as a Chef." He smirked. The bastard looked me up!

"Or-"

"Or you can leave and do as you please." He paused, "but remember I will not be able to protect you from Kyle if you do decide to leave." I had already made up my mind but I hesitated.

I had no where to go. Going back to kyle was out of the question. My parents passed away a year ago in a freak accident and I knew Kyle would be looking for me. He has a lot of friends all over the city.

Who else to protect me than a mobster? Who else to break your heart and pick you apart than a sexy mobster? Ignoring my inner voice I looked into Vincents eyes. "I will work for you," I paused to get Hus full attention, "but I have a few conditions."

His smirk fell but the twinkle in his eyes remained. "Continue," he prompted.

"First, I want discuss pay. Second I will be able to leave whenever I want if ever this doesn't work out for me." I hesitated as the smile disappeared when I mentioned leaving, "Finally I need your promise that I will never have to witness any of your killing. I understand who you are and what you do but I want to stay free of all that."

He stayed silent just staring at me thoughtfully. "Thousand a week. You will have your own room next to mine and if you ever want to leave I will not stop you. I will keep my life style far from you." I smiled and we shook hands.

He went on telling me when I was better that his head maid would show me around. I soon became tired and Vincent noticed as my eyes kept closing on their own.

"Get some sleep Bella." He whispered into my ear. I was already drifting to sleep. When I felt his lips pressing against my forehead.
