Chapter 1 - Hospitality

"Yes... we're already near the mansion, Lady Veronica. Taking the jet was a lot faster than the helicopter. But young miss is still complaining how slow the jet is."

"She's always like that, Sebastian. Oh, and make sure she doesn't jump off from the jet and skydive like she did last time or - ALL THE TIME!!!"

"I'll make su -"

"SEBAAAAAA!!! I'M GOING AHEAD 'KAY!!!" I yelled over to Seba, my caretaker, PA, and butler, who was talking over the phone with grandma. I strapped the parachute to my back and opened the jet's door letting the air rush inside.

"DON'T YOU EVEN DARE!!! YOUNG MISS PLEASE!!!" he screamed.

"Sorry Seba, I still got to prepare for my marriage meeting - and this flight's taking too long"

Then I jumped... skydiving from a height of 12,000 feet.

I felt the wind slapping my face and my stomach trying to force itself out of my body but putting my life in jeopardy makes me feel calm.

Call me crazy, but nothing's been going right for the past few days and the only way to fix that is - I have to prepare for the most important guest before the sun sets...

I finally reached my terminal velocity and opened the parachute landing on the large rose garden in front of the Victorian mansion where I lived.

"Well that was thrilling," I said as I went up the marble steps of the mansion and saw an old lady with graying hair, her hands on her wooden cane, and a huge scowl on her face.

"What?"

"Katrina, please stop doing stupid things - one day you'll be the death of me or Seba's who's *this* close to going insane"

"Well the jet is really slow so I had no choice, and grandma I think you could use a facial" I answered as the great doors of the mansion were opened by the butlers of the house.

Home...

I entered into our mansion's grand foyer with crystal chandeliers hanging from the ceilings, white tall Corinthian pillars at the sides, and granite flooring. I took everything in remembering every detail that my parents used to love... and left me to protect it.

I plopped down on the nearest sofa I could find and propped my legs on the arm rest.

"So how was the meeting with the Prime Minister? Did he accept our trading offer for the new branch?"

I turned on my side away from her "It went good, and the company has been thriving as ever so there's need to worry."

"And what are you going to do about the marriage meeting tonight...?" she asked with a seriously cold tone.

It piqued my attention and so I sat up.

"Well I'm going to say yes... there's no other way to fix this family feud... and it was one of my parents' last request I -" I said with my head low.

SMACK!!!!

"Ack! That hurts, grandma!" I complained after she hit me hard with a cane.

"I didn't even let your mother marry to that dimwit family even though they forced me to and now you want to marry some guy you never met. Trina, if you have to marry... marry for love. Or at least get a boyfriend and make babies with him then they'll leave you alone, plus it's summer vacation you should enjoy your summer"

"Grandma I know you're so eager to make me lose my virginity but that's not gonna happen... well not yet... still, the company would have prospered even more if the Ainsworth family didn't always sabotage my plans"

"To destroy the possessions of others for self-gain and ill-intentions is the way of the weak." she said taking a few steps nearer.

"The only way to end this feud is through bloodshed, Katrina... other ways will only result in a more gruesome bloodbath" she sighed and lifted my chin with her finger that made me meet my grandmother's ice blue eyes the same hue as mine "If you want to do this for the prosperity of the company and the will of the dead... you are not really living your life, live for yourself. You even gave up your dream because of them... please don't do this Katrina," my grandmother pleaded caressing my hair.

I gently removed my grandma's hand "I'm sorry but my decision is final... and besides what else should I live for other than my parents' last will?" I replied.

"It's your life, Katrina... I respect your decisions but I hope you won't regret them," after that she left.

Ahhh a moment of peace... I still have 4 hours before the marriage meeting. I should wait until -

"LADY KATRINAAAAA!!!!!!!!"

I cracked my eyes open to see Seba panting at the doorway like an exhausted dog with his silver blonde hair disheveled.

"You're only two years older than me but you look like an old man Seba - and stop being formal with me grandma's not here."

"Princess, well whose fault do you think in bad shape?! You gave me a heart attack when you jumped off the jet - it nearly killed me. I don't know who's going to die first, you who keeps doing stupid reckless things, or me who gets mental breakdowns every time you do them!!!???" he scolded.

"Fine... Fine... I'm sorry, anyway Seba I have to prepare for tonight," I said and started to walk up the grand staircase. But I stopped in my tracks once I looked at the large portrait of my mother and father hanging on the wall.

It has been 3 years since their death but it still wrenches my heart painfully...

"Princess if you want me to take it down, I-ll -"

"No it's alright Seba. But make sure the security's tight tonight and keep my grandmother safe in case something happens..."

"Will you go with the plan tonight?"

"Yes but I might fail... But I won't regret my decision" I sighed touching the portrait and turned to Seba "If I die tonight Seba, what would you do?"

"I'll follow you to the afterlife..." he walked up the steps, bent on one knee, took my hand and brushed his lips gently on top of it "For my one and only master" he looked up and saw his bottle-green eyes filled with devotion.

"That's right my faithful dog... follow me to the end" I grinned "But we have to wait for the night to start the hunt. Ready everything Sebastian..."

"As the princess wishes"

"The Ainsworth Family will greatly appreciate the hospitality of the Griffith Family..." I said staring at the portrait of my late parents.
