"Well..." John stretched "that was exciting-"
"Dude, did you see Yang!? She kicked ass!" Nume hadn't shut about about Yang's fight since he saw it. It was starting to irritate Nerisa.
"Argh, will you shut up about that..." Neri sighed "that poor Neon... she looked messed up... also, aren't you and Octavia an item?"
Nume shrugged "Doesn't mean I can't look-"
The archer was swiftly interrupted by a barrage of slaps from his sister.
The sickly hunter sighed. "Well, I found Pyrrha's fight interesting...".
As the four hunters moved to the exit John felt a tug on his arm.
He turned.
A blushing Nerisa stood still, looking at the ground.
"Um, sis?" the archer cocked his head.
"Give us a minute Nume..." John nodded at the archer.
A few seconds passed and the pair were finally alone.
"That's right..." John leaned against the wall "I need to tell you about my past...". He took a deep breath and begun to explain... although he left out some of the more gruesome detail.
Minutes passed as John explained. It felt good to finally share it... to get it off his chest.
Nerisa stared at him, her mouth dropped. "You... were with the White Fang...?"
The cat nodded.
An awkward silence washed over them.
"W-Well... that's fine, I mean you aren't anymore, right? So..." Nerisa leaned against the wall next to John. She had to do it here and now, while there was still hope. If she waited any longer then John might end up with Blake, or worse... Cinder.
"I..." she took a deep breath and looked into his eyes. "I... really like you, OK!?" she paused, that came out a little wrong... and a little loud. But she got her point across.
"Yeah... I kinda guessed..." the cat smiled at her. "Neri...". John's voice trailed off. He had all night to think about it, but he was no closer to a conclusion. Nerisa was a good friend, but that was as far as he'd thought.
"I... I know..." she looked off to the side. "Y-You don't have to say anything now.... just... think about it, OK? I mean, I'm not evil... so that's a plus..."
"Evil?" the cat thought. "Cindy? No... she's just misunderstood... right?" doubt was starting to creep into his mind. Were his teammates right about her?
Ozpin sat at his desk, his chair facing to the glass wall behind it. He sipped his fresh coffee as he watched the sun set.
Another day of fighting down... more bodies pilled up in the hospital.
But this was the point, these students had to learn the harsh reality of life as a hunter.
The elevator doors pinged open.
Ozpin continued to sip.
"You know..." Qrow sighed "he's making you look like a fool...". The drunken hunter slammed his hands down on the desk.
Ozpin didn't turn to face him. "His heart is in the right place..." the headmaster finished his coffee and begun to brew another. "He's just... misguided..."
"You know..." Qrow's voice had a tinge of irritation in it "coffee..." he sighed. It was futile, and he knew it. "Anyway... Ironwood..." Qrow brewed himself a coffee and took a sip-
