Night sits sulking in the throne next to his father's, who is out mingling with the partygoers. He watches as Glacier struggles to perform on stage. Her movements are sluggish and clumsy, but all he does is pray that she doesn't fall. The last time one of the girls fell, the crowd's reaction was less than favorable.

The minutes seem to drag on forever as he awaits the parties end.

"Hey there." Scarlet whispers to him from behind.

"What do you want?" He snaps.

"I just want to talk."

He scoffs. "That's a new one."

She scowls. "Look. I have been watching you and your statements last night only gave me the evidence I need. We both know what would happen if your father were to hear the news that you have fallen in love with a Whore. A fourteen year old Whore at that. It wouldn't be good for Glacier."

He stares at her. "Why do you hate her?"

"Because she took you from me. It used to be me always by your side. When you chose Desret I thought at least you wouldn't be with the girl who could seduce you at her will, but then I found you and her in the library. That crossed a line. For both of you. I want you to be with me or be alone. Nothing else." Scarlet stalks off without another word.

He sits pondering Scarlet's words but his attention is drawn by the sound of shattering glass. His head jerks in the direction of the noise. He sees Glacier has collapsed on the stage and someone has thrown a glass at her. He acts on instinct.

Standing, he runs over. Jumping onto the stage, he slides the broken glass away from her.

"Are you hurt?" He asks. She shakes her head.

"No more than I was."

"I wish I could help you but if I do my father threatened to hurt you again. We can't stay here. We will elope tonight. We will run and never look back." She can see the sad desperation in his eyes.

"We will." She gives him a small, assuring smile. "Just help me up and walk away. We don't need witnesses to add to your father's suspicion."

He nods, lifting her onto her feet. He confirms that she's okay before leaving the stage.

Instead of stopping to sit on the throne, he continues to walk until he is out of the banquet hall, unable to watch her struggle any longer.

Might want to mentally prepare for the next chapter. It's gonna be a big deal.
