The next day went along like any other. Calculus was boring. World History revolved around a lesson on the Civil War era, and French class was basically just a vocabulary follow up. By the time a dull announcement in Gym arrived that the softball game would be postponed due to rain, Lily was more than certain her day would hold little to no excitement with the exception of The Vampire Diaries episodes she taped to watch later that night.
"Lily! Did you hear?!" Nico Collins called as he rushed down the stairs, an excited look in his piercing green eyes.
"Yeah, outside gym classes are cancelled all week due to rain." Lily nodded solemnly, not being able to hide her disappointment. Being apart of a prestigious Catholic school, school uniforms were standard and mandatory for girls and boys. Guys got to wear either white, light blue, or navy polo shirts with khacki pants; while girls got to wear plaid skirts or khaki pants with the same type of shirts. Gym class was the one time you got to wear just a regular t-shirt and either shorts or sweatpants. Since all outdoor activities were cancelled for the week, this meant gym would be spent indoors most probably talking about sports instead. There would be no getting out of hideous uniform wearing all week.
Nico cocked a sandy brow before shaking his head rapidly. "No! The camera's Reese had us set up last night - they picked something up." He frowned upon noticing Lily wasn't impressed. "Noises....That don't belong here...Someone saying something...C'mon, that's gotta get you thinking this place is actually haunted."
Lily laughed at the way Nico wiggled his eyebrows in a playful manner. "I'm sorry." She finally admitted after her giggles died off. "It's just...I don't believe in stuff like that."
"Ghosts?" Nico curiously asked, following her down the stairs.
"Well, yeah." Lily shrugged, brushing some of her dark mahogany colored hair back behind her ear. "I feel if you can see and you can touch it, then it's real."
Nico snorted. "Aw c'mon - so you're saying out of every person that dies in this world ugly deaths or not, you don't believe anyone could stay behind...?"
Lily shrugged once more. "Why would they? Wouldn't they just go to heaven or hell depending how they lived life? Why would anyone stick around the high school they were murdered at?"
Nico frowned as he followed Lily towards the direction of the projection room where film club is held. His brows furrowed as he seemed to think this through. "Good point - it's hard to imagine anyone would wanna stay in high school even after they died."
"Exactly." Lily grinned. "If I'm a ghost, I'm at least going to Disney and hitting up all the rides in the fast past lane." She nods seriously, causing Nico to grin as they enter the room. Only four people have arrived so far - JP, Abby, Chewie, and Evie.
"So...uh...you sit in front of me in English...." Nico trailed off, watching Lily as he ran a hand through his sandy blonde hair.
"Yep." Lily nods, not really knowing what else to contribute to that statement. She's sat in front of him for a couple months now - this wasn't something new.
"It's uh...cool to have you as class neighbor." Nico coughs awkwardly. "I mean, you're the prettiest girl I sit by." He says, suddenly diverting his green eyes to the ground as he winced.
Lily's ivory cheeks redden in a blush, only now realizing he was trying to flirt. Not really being talented at the art of flirting herself, Lily bit her bottom lip to think of a response to ease Nico's sudden embarrassment. A few long, hard seconds pass by where Lily nervously thought of a reply that would work to ease the tension.
