Wallys pov Friday
This week had been hard. I was aloud to stay out of school, spend time with my mother and Tristan.
It was Wednesday when everything went wrong. Mary collapsed while folding laundry. It still haunts me,

I was in the kitchen doing dishes, that's when I heard the loud thump. I rushed into the living room to find my mother laying motionless on the floor. She had hit her head on the coffee table when she fell.... blood surrounded her head.... I cried out in fear and ran to her side, phone in hand. I called Tristan- I knew we couldn't afford an ambulance- and waited until he arrived.

Then he drove us to the nearest hospital, which is where we are now. My mother is 'fine', but her time is near. She's getting married today, in the hospital, barley alive. To say I'm scared is an understatement.
I stand in a suit, which brings back horrid memories, and watch as a doctor helps my mother down the hallway. She wears a white hospital gown, and holds onto both the doctor and the portable iV drip pole thing. Tristan smiles at her, standing a little ways away with a priest.
Just like that I watched my mother get married. She seemed happy, and thats all I can ask.
That happiness came to an end... Saturday at noon, my mother's heart stopped. She died with a smile, a single tear slid down her face, right before she flatlined. Tristan and I had sat on either side of her, holding her hands.

She was gone.
....

Tristan was already moved in. He seemed fine considering his wife just died. Sunday he layed down 'ground rules', which included: staying in my room, being quiet, cooking and cleaning, no friends over, and no disobedience. Its like I'm living with Rudolph again... thats what scares me.
I can barley morn her, he's already sending me back to school. He doesn't care.
....
Monday.

I gather all the homework I had to complete, mine and the others, and head out. My body had healed with my time away, but I know more will be inflicted.
Oh I can't wait.

I arrive at school in 10 minutes, I'm early. The halls are mostly empty, so I make it to my locker easily.
"Mr. West"
I jump, looking around for my father before I realize the person was talking to me.
"May I have a word?" Its the principal.
"Uh... y-yeah." I say quietly.
He leads me to the office, my heart pounding hard against my chest.
We enter his room, where I see the back of a girls head. She has golden blonde hair, and as she turns I'm met with startling, bright blue eyes. She stands with a timid smile, at her full height she's as tall as Superboy.
"Wallace, this is Eve. She's new this week and I hoped you could show her around? Shes in most of your classes so it won't be too out of your way." The principal explains
"Uh.. yeah sure. No problem" I reply.
He smiles before shooing us out.
"So... whats your locker number?" I ask awkwardly.
"uh" she pulls out a Folded paper, "216" she finishes
"Thats near mine" I say with a small smile.
She returns my smile and follows me. We get to her locker and first period quickly and easily. I continue to lead her around, when finally its lunch. I was beginning to hope my bullies were absent. I was wrong.

I'd gone to my locker alone because Eve said she could find her way. I'm glad she's not here though, I wouldn't want her to become a target.
"Hey Gingerhead, where ya been? You better have our homework" Brett threatens
I let out a sigh, before reaching into my locker to find their papers. I find them easily in my well organized system, then hand each of the five boys their papers.
"Better get me an A. If I get kicked off the team your In for it big time." Jared warns
I ignore their comments and continue to grab my stuff.
"Hey! Are you listening!?" Angelo asks angrily.
He grabs the front of my shirt, lifts me up and slams me against the locker. My superhero instincts want to kick in, which makes me grateful for my time of leave/ skipping. I grab onto Angelos wrists, trying to get out of his grip.
"You don't deserve to be here, To be alive you freak!" He growls.
His face changes, he's no longer some bully, he's my father. I freeze, eyes wide. I can't hear him anymore, can't feel or see. I know he's punching me, spitting insults, its what they all do.
Then I hear the faintness of a new voice, one I recognize, but I don't know where...
"Leave him alone!"
Light flashes in all our eyes, I'm dropped, falling limply to the floor.
"What'd you do freak??"
"Go away blondzilla! This is none of your business"
"Yeah beat it!"
I finally see her, Eve. I stand up slowly, this isn't her fight.
"Leave her alone" I say
They turn back to me with glares full of hatred,
"You got guts West. We're not finished here."
They turn and walk away, seething. Once their out of sight, I slide down the lockers once more.
"Are you okay?" Eve asks as she kneels in front of me.
"Been through worse" I say, "why don't you fight back??" She asks
"It Gets worse if I do" I reply.
"Well from now on you have a friend to stick up for you!" Eve declares
"No way, you'll get hurt too!" I argue, sitting up straight and wincing in pain.
"Oh well. I can take it."
.....

After much convincing, I took her to the cafeteria. She had insisted that we go to the nurse, but my charm won her over. Not really I just lied.

Finally school ended and I made it out without running into Brett and his friends. Now I just had to deal with Tristan.... oh goody.

A/N
