It's a sunny day, and whenever it's sunny or even cloudy -actually forget the weather since it's truly unnecessary- the members of the rumored 'strongest team in Fairy Tail' would usually be out on a mission. Well, then again, it wouldn't really matter. The reason why we'd be out on a mission is either because I need more money for my rent, Natsu's boredom or Gray or even Erza have a special case where they owe someone or something.
For this particular mission, though, it isn't because of the above reasons. We were out on a mission due to a direct order from The Magic Council. The Guild's been getting more well known in Earthland since we made an appearance during the Grand Magic Games. I guess winning first place made us impress everyone. The town mayor gave us back our original guild building which is in the center of the town. Master Makarov had teared up at the mayor's kindness.
However, not everyone was happy with our success. The members of Sabertooth weren't too pleased with us stealing the champion title. Although, there were those who acknowledge us; the Dragon Twins, their exceeds and Yukino. Sting and Rogue took their loss as evidence to work harder. Their exceeds obviously followed whatever their partners thought. Sting became the Master of Sabertooth and Yukino was accepted into their guild.
So to say, things should be good.
"Move out of the way, Lucy!"
Other than the fact that we're currently getting our asses given to us in a cave.
"Karyū no Hōkō!" Natsu roars before flames spit out from his mouth towards the dark guild members who dodged easily, ready with their counter attack. Considering how much trouble they're giving us, it's no surprise this mission was so special.
Gray forms a large ice wall to protect Natsu. No doubt, Natsu whines about how he could have handled it and didn't need Gray's intervention. I would have laughed, but my own opponents are keeping me busy.
"Why is it ALWAYS a cave?" I complain as my whip slashes at three dark mages, throwing them back to the cave wall "I mean, seriously? Why do they hide important items in caves?"
Gray smirks behind the ice shield he's conjured up to protect both of us from an earth mage's blasts "Because people get lost in caves, causing them to never find these important items, Lucy" He answers my rhetorical question. I roll my eyes at his smug attitude. The smirk is soon wiped off his lips when a crack forms on the shield, no doubt it isn't going to hold any longer"Go get the artifact, Lucy!" He demands.
Instead of leaving Gray to fend off the mage by himself, I quickly wrap an arm around his torso and pull him down with me to dodge the attack. His shield shatters, but Gray gives me a grateful smile. "Thanks, Lucy" He gives me a quick wink. My cheeks fill with warmth for a few moments before I push myself up and away from him before I forget his words.
Get the artifact.
Easier said than done.
I get into a running start and make my way towards the oddly shaped object which had been placed on a platform with -groan- stairs. And a whole lot of steps...
Screw the people who designed this bloody place.
I kick more energy into my legs when I realize that I'm the only one aiming for the artifact. On the other side of the staircase the dark guild's leader is sprinting just as fast; and may I say that's somewhat sad since I'm wearing a skirt and that I'm a girl. Science proved that males have more energy stored in their body than girls since they performed more physical activities in their daily life.
