He lay there peacefully, snoring softly.
I stood at the doorway staring at his beautiful features adoring those thick lips which once met mine. Then the love and admiration turned into rage, hate and hurt as the word 'once' ringed in my ears. She took him away from me! She got him!
"I hate you Katherine.." I hissed.
But now i can't help but laugh at half of my victory. Aye i must not forget... Half of my mission is still incomplete.
Joseph. Poor kid doesn't even know what the future holds, what I'm holding for him.
Bryant stirred and squinted in my direction, sensing my presence but in between the blink of his eye I was gone..

I saw a figure at my doorway but nothing was there as i focused, rubbing my sleepy eyes.
"Weird," Muttering, I dozed off again.
About an hour later I woke up sensing someone at my door again. Uneasiness washed over me and last night's joseph's strange attitude clouded my mind.
"Who's there?" I called.
"Daddy," my little boy stood at the door, smiling.
"Yes, dear?" I asked, gesturing him to get in.
"Guuud monuging" I laughed at his cute greeting.
"Good morning to you to my soldier!"
"Shool day!" he cheered .
"Wh- oh school? Right yaay! We'll get admitted to school today!"
After I got joseph's school stuff done, we drove back home. The weather was dull and my mood always gets affected gravely by it. Unlocking the door I could not stop myself from pitying our life. My wife, Katherine is no more with us. I don't have a partner, joseph doesn't have a mother. Sure I try to fill her place but I know I can never fill it.
Everything gets on my nerves but I know this agitation needs to be disarmed. I can not dwell in it.
"how long?"
"Huh?" I dropped the keys, startled.
"Daddy I need to pee!" Joseph cried, jumping.
"Yeah sorry, there! Go! Run!" He ran into the darkness and i slumped into my rocking chair in the living room placing my head in hands. I stood up and stretched. Sighing heavily, I started head to towards the kitchen.
"Daaaaaaaaaaaaaddddyy!!" Joseph screamed louder than i ever heard him and i stopped dead in my tracks.
Ashley. The first thing that popped into my head was her name. I ran towards my son fearing the worst.
