You walked along the streets of Iwatobi, hugging your jacket as the wind blew hard on your face. You were walking home from school, and you were freezing, but that was also due to the fact that you weren't completely dry from the last swim practice. You had joined the swim team at Iwatobi High when it was first created, but they still had a lot of practicing to do. Although you got to practice with your childhood swim team friends Haru, Makoto, and Nagisa. There was also new people who joined the team, the manager (and your close friend) Gou, and another guy named Rai. You kept walking until you were outside your house, but you started to hear familiar voices of Makoto, Haru, and Nagisa. "(Name)-chan deserves to know that he's back!" You heard Nagisa say. You had a feeling this was a conversation you weren't supposed to hear, so you quickly ran into your house, but kept the door slightly open so you could at least hear what they were saying. Haru, Makoto, and Nagisa walked down the sidewalk, getting closer to your house, still talking. "No! She'll will definitely get upset! You remember what happened between them before he left!" Makoto replied. "(Name) has the right to know though. We were all friends. It's not fair to her if we all know and she's the one kept in the dark." Haru said quietly. They had now stopped outside your house and you closed the door a little more. "You're right Haru-chan. She needs to know." Nagisa said. And with that, they walked up the steps to your house and knocked on the door. You waited a few seconds before opening the door so they wouldn't think you were spying. "Hi guys! What brings you here?" You said, smiling. Haru raised an eyebrow noticing your unusual behavior. "Um, can we come in. There's something serious we need to tell you." Makoto said. You welcomed them in and you all sat down. "So what is it?" You asked. "Rin." Haru said. Rin. You hadn't heard that name since the end of elementary school. Your eyes went wide at the sound of his name. "W-What about him." You said. "He's back from Australia. And he's definitely changed." Nagisa said. You clenched your fists. "Yeah, he has. But not for the better." Makoto said. They told you about what had happened with Rin. "Apparently he goes to Samezuka Academy." Makoto said. You sighed angrily. "Thanks for telling me. I appreciate it, but right now I just need to think for a while. See you guys tomorrow." You said. They left, and you sat on the ground pounding your fists against the table. You felt hot tears roll dow your face as you remembered the last day you saw him.

It was the last day he was going to be in town before he would leave for Australia and you visited his house to say goodbye. You knocked on the door and he welcomed you inside with a toothy smile. "Hi (Name)!" Rin said happily. "Hi Rin! So you're going to Australia tomorrow?" You asked. "Yep!" He responded proudly. "They have all sorts of fancy facilities and I'm gonna be an Olympic swimmer in no time!" He said. You smiled nervously. Ever since he told you he was leaving to become an Olympic swimmer, you were jealous. You hated to admit it at the time. But you always were better at butterfly and breaststroke than him. And Haru was better than anyone! And he got to be what every swimmer dreamed of being. At the top. You clenched your teeth. "(Name)? Are you okay? You seem mad. Hey! Lets race! I need the practice before I leave and-" "STOP IT!" You screamed interrupting him. "I'VE TRIED TO BE HAPPY FOR YOU AND I'VE TRIED TO SUPPORT YOU BUT WILL YOU EVER STOP TALKING ABOUT IT! IT'S JUST NOT FAIR! WHY DO YOU GET TO ACHIEVE THE DREAM I'VE BEEN WORKING FOR! WHY YOU!" You yelled in his face. Rin was shocked. He had never seen you so mad. "(Name)! Just calm down!" He said, desperately trying to get you to quiet down. "NO! I...I JUST CAN'T BELIEVE YOUR LEAVING US AND THEN RUNNING OFF TO SOME FANCY SCHOOL TO BE THE BEST IN THE WORLD. WHY CAN'T I! WHY DO YOU GET TO BE THE BEST!" You screamed, crying and running out the door. Rin ran out of his house as well, desperately calling your name, but you were already gone.

You sighed. The memory hurt. But that was a lifetime ago. You changed your ways after that and tried to be happy. Eventually you never even thought about Rin. Until today. You grabbed the photo that coach had taken at the relay that day. Everyone was happy and proud. But that all changed when he left. And he left knowing how much you hated that he got to live your dream.
