Long ago in a world where magic still flowed out of everybody and dragons ruled the sky with their riders, is where we begin our story. He was special case. His name was Elessar and he was the lord of the weather. Well that was later on in his life, but where we start is when he only knew of his Infirmity to the elements.
Elessar was a young boy at the age of seventeen when he got the letter of admittance to the Dragon Lords. Like so many others before him, Elessar had never applied to or even thought about joining the ranks of the Dragon Lords. But with that said he answered the call and went west to the High City, where the Dragon Lords live and train. As Elessar approached the city he grew more and more nervous. As this happened, the air around him began to tremble with power. He walked up to the large silver gates of the High City. He proclaimed himself as Elessar Infirmity of the elements. The gates slowly opened and a man of fair skin and long blond hair came forward " welcome Elessar of the Elements. I am Feanor the Warden. Come, I have been ordered to show you around and get you ready for your introductions to Ranks." he said and Elessar nodded and silently followed the man through the City. The city itself was huge in comparison to the small towns and it's buildings. They wound themselves through the shining streets, promenades wider across than the town square in Elessar's home town, and side-streets packed tight with the market stalls of ill-repute. Finally, the Warden came to a halt in front of a towering set of doors enameled with silver and gold dragons and a beautiful, flowing script that Elessar did not know. The warden placed his hands on the hulking doors and they swung open with a whisper, as if they were as light as a feather. Elessar strode into the dark hallway that came after to doors. His mouth dropped open when he saw how high the ceiling was and how large the doors were and how far apart they were.
"These are the dorms where you will be staying" the warden said as he came up to one large door and opened it to Elessar. "This is your room. Please change into the clothes laid out for you inside. When you are done, we shall begin your initiation."
With that, the warden turned and stood at attention beside the doorway. Elessar walked in with wide eyes, taking in the huge room that was now his. Its three dark grey walls reminded him of the color of the sheer faces of the mountains at dawn, and fourth wall looked like nothing Elessar had ever seen before. It looked as if the wall had been taken out and replaced with a membranous tarp. He also saw a bed and wardrobe at the far corner. He walked over and opened up the wardrobe. Inside there were uniforms and casual clothes; a spectrum of dull greys. He shrugged and swiftly put them on and walked back out to meet the Warden. The Warden nodded to him and began walking further into the dorms. After a while of walking we walked into an open breezeway to an opening to a cave. This is where the Warden stopped and turned to face Elessar. "This is the house of the dragon eggs. Within this cave you will find your dragon and name it. I may not go any further. From now on until you bring your dragon back to the light, I may not go with you. I will be waiting here for you. Good luck," he said and moved aside to let Elessar pass. Elessar opened his mouth to ask a question but he Warden's facial expression halted his words. So he nodded to him and walked past and into the darkness of the cave. Elessar gulped and felt a stirring in his body drawing him down the path. With a deep, shuddering breath, Elessar started down the winding rocky path until he came into a dully lit room and he gasped. Torches with bright flames dotted the walls but the floor was littered with smooth round stones. They were all different shapes colors and sizes. Elessar looked around for a few moments until he spotted a dark egg with electric blue veins running all around it. It was sitting in the wall away from the others. He walked up to it and picked it up and looked at it. Suddenly, a piercing, fiery pain spiked through his body. He let out a silent scream but still held onto the egg. After for what seemed endless amount of time the pain subsided and Elessar dropped the egg. The egg hit the rocky floor and shattered to a million pieces. Elessar jumped back to reality as he heard the crack, as he looked down fearing the worse but gasped when he saw in the middle of the egg shells a cat-sized dragon. It was dark grey with electric blue eyes and when it moved it looked like a dark cloud swirling. Elessar leaned down looked at it straight in the eyes 'Gladair' it said in Elessar's mind. Elessar, understanding, said, "Gladair is that your name?" the dragon nodded and Elessar smiled and patted its head but when his skin touched the dragons soft scales pain flashed briefly. He closed his eyes holding his arm. When Elessar opened his eyes he saw that his dragon was now the size of a small pony. Gladair sniffed and walked out of the cavern. Realizing that his dragon was leaving, Elessar raced after him.
The Warden was smiling at his thoughts when he felt a hot breath on the back of his neck. When he turned around he came face to face with blue eyes. The Warden backed up and smiled " hello Master Dragon" he said. Elessar laughed bit and said " his name is Gladair". The warden smiled " Storm. A fitting name for him, and a fitting title for an element user" the Warden said with a smile. Elessar looked at him. "Storm?" he asked, confused. The warden nodded" Gladair is Dragon for Storm. " he said with a smirk on his face. "Now come on, we need to get you rested up and fed for tomorrow." he nodded with a small grin and took after the Warden.
They came upon a large door at the end of the hall of rooms. The warden opened the door with a soft word and entered. The room was a bare and dull grey. The ceiling was tall and the room was wide. There was a small bed in the corner, covered in silky grey sheets. On the far side there was a thin membrane covering the largest wall opposite the door. There was a pair of wardrobes and a chest next to the small bed. Across from the bed there was what looked to be a mound of bedding. Elessar gasped slightly as the warden let him in. He smirked
"This is going to be your new room from here on out. When the Lords approve of you, the room will be decorated with the colors of your dragon and of your most profound powers. You will not get a crest until you have either earned it or finished all of your training. Tomorrow we shall first meet the lords where they will test you, then once you are approved you will get fitted for a report or a report and cloths, and as for a weapon...well that will come later." He said looking at Elessar and his dragon." Let me be clear.you shall reference all higher powers with the title they tell you. Storm shall be referred as Storm and not by his true name, for names are are powerful thing here. Now you came in a bit late, for the beginning of classes, so you will have to work hard to catch up but that should be no problem for you."
Elessar nodded and looked down to Storm and grinned. A smile quirked the Warden's lips and he shook his head. "Get some rest. You have a long day in the morning." He said walking out the door and softly closing it. As soon and the door closed, Storm dived into the bedding and Elessar the bed. They both sighed contently and looked at each other. Elessar giggled a bit trying to hold back and Storm snorted in amusement. Elessar smiled and sat back and closed his eyes shutting out the world for the night.
