I watched as a beautiful girl my age stepped from behind the throne. The princess looked just like her mother but shorter. She stopped a few feet behind her mother.
Instinctively, I curtsied. "You may rise." She said. The adults seemed amused that we were acting exactly like them.
"We should let them have some time to chat." My mother said.
The queen nodded. "That sounds delightful. Annabelle, why don't you show Corona your room?"
"Of course, mother." Princess Annabelle said. "Follow me."
I followed her through the castle to a room with a big, beautiful bed and a large bathtub. A window overlooked the courtyard.
She sat down in the bed and patted the spot next to her. I sat down beside her.
"This is crazy." She said, smiling. "All my life, I was told that I was going to be a great queen, and you would be there to protect me. It's so crazy, finally meeting you."
"Exactly." I said. "I've been waiting for so long for this moment, and it's everything I was hoping it would be."
She grinned. "I can show you around the castle, and we can talk to handsome Knights and lords. We can go on adventures... Mother would never let me do anything before. She always said, 'wait until Corona gets here. Then you'll have someone to protect you.'"
I grinned. "It sounds like so much fun. I've always wanted to go on adventures."
"Me too, actually." She said. "But I'm sure I cant fight like you can."
"Yeah, but you can still come. As long as you don't get hurt."
She smiled and nodded. Besides, mother told me you had something special that would make you the best knight."
I hesitated. Had the queen mentioned my powers? How did she know? Had my parents told her?
If I was going to be protecting this girl, surely it was okay if I told her about my powers."
I nodded. "I... I have powers."
She gaped. "How?"
I shrugged. "I don't really know. I think my mother got a strange sickness while she was pregnant with me that no one has ever seen before."
"What can you do?" She asked.
"I can turn invisible, move things with my mind, defy gravity and see in the dark."
"Wow!" She gasped. "Can you move me?"
"What?"
"Can you lift me using your mind?"
I blinked. "I've never done it on a human before, but I can try."
"Cool!" She stood up.
I focused and lifted her with my mind the way I usually did with objects.
"Whoa!" She said, alight with a purple glow. "It feels so weird! I'm tingling all over, and I can't move myself!"
I laughed and moved her around, swishing her through the air.
She laughed. "This is so cool!"
"Girls, what are you doing in here?" I heard outside the door.
I quickly set Annabelle down just before our parents came in. "Calm down, Amethyst." My father said. "They were just having some fun."
The queen smiled. "Come eat with us!" She said, and we followed the out of the room.
"That was so much fun, Princess Annabelle!" I said quietly to her.
"Please," she smiled, "call me Anna!"
