"i think the universe is a weird thing."
"weird?"
"yes. weird."
"why?"
"colton, have you read anything about the universe?"
"yeah, but-"
"if you've read stuff you should know how weird it is," i said while shaking my head.
"well, i dunno," he said while shoving his hands in the pockets of his pants.
"what don't you know?"
"i think it's interesting, not weird."
i shook my head at that, "since when have you thought the universe was 'interesting'?"
"literally since forever. you just never asked."
"was i supposed to ask?"
"well, no. yet it never came up in conversation either," he said looking off into the forrest to the left of us.
"you could have started the conversation," i pointed out while kicking a pebble.
"you of all people know i hate starting conversations."
"yeah," i said smiling, "i do."
"let's go watch a movie or something."
"colton, it's two in the morning."
"so?" he stopped walking. it was so sudden that i walked past him.
i stopped and turned to face him, "you know i'm all for the idea. just what films would be on at this hour?"
"meh. it doesn't really matter, now does it?" he started walking again. once again, this action was sudden; i was left trying to catch up with his long strides.
"no, it doesn't."
we walked in comfortable silence for several minuets. it was interrupted soon, as there never really was silence with us. when there was, however, it was always comforting and smooth.
he smiled and with a mischievous glint in his eyes asked, "ready to cause some trouble tonight?"
i laughed and replied, "after the film."
we stopped once more- this time, both in sync.
"aw," he pouted, "you're no fun."
"well, we wouldn't want to miss a good film."
"i think it's funny how you say 'film' instead of 'movie'," he blurted randomly after we started walking again.
"why?"
"i dunno. i just thought about it now."
"i never really thought about. i probably would have died without realizing that."
"well that took a sharp turn into gloomsville."
"well, i'm full of surprises."
"very true, nora, very true."
