Chapter Two - The First Days

Koralyn POV

The days dragged on.

"Ugh, Nathan, stop hogging the wifi!" I groan across the room.

"Don't worry. We can wait a little while more Koralyn." My new (but feels like we've known each other forever) friend Heidi says. Sometimes I wonder how she can be so patient.

"Nathan, what are you doing anyway?" She asks curiously.

Nathan looks up from his phone with a distant look in his eyes.

"Uuuuh...um... a... um... game." He coughs, going bright red. "I'll be back in a minute." He says before getting up and running to the door.

Nathan POV

The last thing I hear as I run out the door is the distinctive sound of giggles.

Nathan, play it cool. Maybe Heidi doesn't realise.

"Who am I kidding? Of course she knows." I say out loud, hoping it will make me feel better, but of course it doesn't.

Okay, straight face now Nathan. Don't reveal more than you already have.

I take a deep breath as I enter the room again.

The giggles stop as soon as the door opens.

Stay cool. "Hey. Um, sorry about that just now." Idiot. "So, do you guys wanna use the wifi now?" That was so bad. The girls just blink.

"Sure. Thanks Nathan." Heidi says, blinking her big, perfect doe eyes.

I feel my heart leap to my throat as I try to stay cool and smile. I sit back on my bed as a sigh escapes my mouth. How am I meant to play it cool when she's so pretty? I mean, her big eyes, her perfect hair, not to mention her curves, and her smile - it's just everything. I sigh again. Who am I kidding? A stick-insect like me doesn't stand a chance with a girl like Heidi. I sigh yet again.

"Is everything okay Nathan?" Heidi asks.

"Um..yeah. I'm just a bit tired." Finally I say something alright. I lean back to the pile of pillows on my bed, closing my eyes.

Heidi POV

Nathan is lying on his bed, sleeping. I sigh. Nathan is so cute. Too bad he's fourteen. I may sound like a creep, staring at him while he's sleeping, but I can't help it. Somewhere far away I hear my name being said repeatedly, then I realise it's Koralyn.

"EARTH TO HEIDI, I REPEAT, EARTH TO HEIDI." Koralyn says loudly in my ear. Her voice pulls me back to the present.

"Sorry - I - I've been really distracted today." I stutter, tearing my gaze away from Nathan.

"So...I was thinking we could watch some ThatcherJoe and some Caspar Lee? Do you like them?" Koralyn asks me.

"Yeah - I mean, who doesn't like them. They're so funny!" I say as Chai, their border collie, jumps on my and starts licking my face.

Koralyn laughs. "Okay, let's start with this one..."

Koralyn POV

"Bye Koralyn! See you at dinner!" Heidi says as she begins to leave our room. "Oh and, bye Nathan." She smiles, then leaves the room.

I look over at Nathan who is grinning on his bed.
