Where Are They?

Chapter 3

Evie POV

"Come on Evie, concentrate!" Mom said while I was in the water the a couple mornings later.

"I'm trying." I say, truly meaning it.

"You can do it Evie!" Mal said. "Concentrate on the happy thoughts you have of Doug and the guys. That's what I did, accept Doug was Ben for me."

Mal already figured out how to get wings on her back, now she just has to figure out how to fly. I, on the other hand, can't figure out how to make my legs turn into a stupid tail.

I did what Mal said and focused on all my happy memories about Mal, Jay, Carlos, and Doug. When Mal made me feel better after Chad. When all four of us gave Ben the love spell cookie with Doug trailing behind me. When I helped Mal get ready with her first date with Ben. When Doug encouraged me to get a B+ on my Chemistry exam. When we all chose good. When Doug manned up and finally kissed me. Pretty soon I felt my legs stick together and my feet grow fins.

"Evie! You did it!" Mal said, running over to hug me, her huge purple wings almost knocking us into the water.

"Release Mal! Release!" I said as Mal let go and sat down next to me.

"Quick question. How do I get my tail to disappear?" I asked.

"Stop thinking about the happy memories. That worked for me."

"Okay." I stopped the positive brain flow and sure enough, my tail disappeared.

"Hey, how many days have we been here?" Mal asked.

"Seven I think, why?" I asked.

"Well, Mama EQ said that we're powerful enough to break through the barrier, so tonight, why don't we make a jail break and get out of Dodge?" Mal asked.

"Well, what if we get caught?"

"We just risk it. We have to see everyone again, right?"

"Right."

"So that's the only way. Let's do this!"

"This is a bad idea, but count me in. Let's stay for a couple of days so she begins to worry."

"Evie, you have an evil mind, and I like your thinking."

"Thank you. We have to rest up if you're going to fly from here to Auradon and if I'm going to swim from here to Auradon as well."
