Lacey was a beautiful, short, but lean girl. She was in Carson's grade and she had moved from France. She had the accent, and at first sight she would make you fall in love with her.

Although I hated her as soon as I saw her.

Even though she was friends with Carson and the same age, she was Brice's girlfriend. That was one of the reasons that I despised her as soon as I met her. After a few months of them dating, Brice decided to invite her to spend the summer with us as the beach house.

My heart shattered a little bit for many different reasons when I heard that she was coming. One reason was that during the summer was the only time when I saw Brice, and I had him all to myself. The second reason was because just thinking about watching Lacey and Brice cuddling made me want to vomit.

And I didn't even want to imagine them kissing.

Anyway, as soon as Lacey had walked through the doors to the beach house that unfortunate summer, my mom already liked her, and I already knew that Carson liked her. Then there was me, I already despised the girl before I even heard her start talking.

She walked through the doors, with Brice's arm slung across her shoulders. I felt something starting to boil inside of me. First, she approached my mom and started showering her in compliments.

"You must be April's friend," she said excitedly and then started being her fake self. "You look like you're in your late twenties, are you?"

"Not after having a sixteen year old, no, but thanks beautiful," my mom responded, and obviously being flattered by the comment.

"And you're Lauren right? It's so nice to meet you, I'm Lacey," she greeted, and she started coming my way. She stood in front of me and her pearly white teeth formed a huge smile.

"Yeah," I responded to her, and looked at her from the top of her head to the bottom of her Tiffany blue painted toes. "It's nice to meet you too."

Carson came running down the stairs, skipped the last two, and jumped down onto the living room floor where we were all standing. A huge smile came across his face as soon as he laid eyes on Lacey.

"Is that Car-Car?" Lacey asked as she turned towards him, and placed her hands on her hips. Car-Car? It took everything in me to keep my composure and not bust into laughter, especially when she said Car-Car with that French accent of hers.

"You guys finally made it, I've been so bored waiting for you," Carson said as he walked up and hugged his brother and his brother's girlfriend. Why does he like her? Why does Brice like her? Can't they tell that she is so fake?

Alright Lauren, calm down. You're pointing out all of the negative things about this girl because she is dating Brice. She's probably really nice. Just try to be nice and open.

"You alright there Lauren?" Carson asked, waving a hand in front of my face, and interrupting me from the little pep talk that I was giving myself. He had an amused expression in his face as he looked at me.

"Yeah, I'm good," I replied as I blinked a few time and ran my fingers through my hair.

"Alright guys, dinner is sitting outside," April called as she opened the sliding door. She grabbed the bottle of wine that was sitting on the marble counter top, and then went back outside.

We all made our way outside and took our places at the table. With my luck, I got the front row seat of  seeing Brice and Lacey all over each other. Carson sat next to me and tried to make conversation with me about how my school was, how soccer went, and how summer went.
