Search the sky for longing,
Drag the lake for hope;
You won't need understanding
To kill yourself by rope;
You won't need reprimanding
To know it's not a joke;
If you're the last one standing,
There's no time to stand and mope.

For I'm a demon
Beyond control,
You give me trust,
I break your soul,
You hold my head,
Breathe and console,
But it is time
To pay your toll.

There's no time to stay there grieving,
You need to learn to live;
This reality's beyond believing,
Yet sorrow's all you give,
And although I know it's painful
To force you to forgive,
You must hand yourself to me,
I'll make good with all your sins.

Humanity is changing,
And Death must follow suit,
I know that hate is ranging
On everything you do;
But flames all can consume us--
Your pupils all dilute--
You cannot find the people
When they're covered by soot.

For I'm a demon
Beyond control,
You give me trust,
I break your soul,
You hold my head,
Breathe and console,
But it is time
To pay your toll.

And rain can put out fire,
And fire can melt the snow;
You can only see desire
When your heart is deep below,
So you build another pyre
To ease the fatal blow,
But you're buried; situations dire,
And only you can know.

Dig you up in springtime;
That's how you know you're gone,
The sky's a general ember,
Reflected by the dawn;
The lake remains all silent,
All but the quacking of a swan,
And you are all alone,
So it's time to carry on.

For I'm an angel
Beyond control,
You give me trust,
You pay your toll,
You hold my head,
Breathe and console,
But it is time
To fix your soul.
