Ren Jinguji: Unfulfilled wish

Why was it that Ren used to submit his projects or assignments late or at times never during his days at Saotome Gakuen before the little lamb came into his life? But looking at it from the start that was also the reason he was close to dropping out of school. Unbeknownst to others, Ren was academically good and what more when he is working on things related to what he loves, music. Yet he chose to fail everything not only to irk his brothers as a form of rebelling but no one seemed to appreciate his efforts or what he does anyway.

Wasn't that what his father made him felt? That whatever he did was of no importance, that he wasn't important.

It pained him as a child. How excited he was to show his father his perfect grades in school only to be dismissed.

"I did my best to make you proud, Papa but I guess it isn't good enough."

That was what his mind thought of when he was young as he cried in his room. While his brothers got their father's attention here he was completely isolated.

"It doesn't matter. Whatever I do he won't care. Just like how he doesn't care about mama."

His efforts were useless. That was why he never bothered to take things seriously, from school to women. So why should he act different just because he was in a school where he could become an idol like his mother? After all once he graduates from this school his brothers will use him as the Jinguji's Poster boy.

That is until the coral-color haired composer all but worked hard to get all of the torn up pieces of his lyrics assignment. For her sake he decided to finish the song and submit it to Hyuga-sensei. As he made his way to where Ryuya Hyuga was he lightly tapped his class teacher with a rolled up sheet of paper containing his complete assignment, a smirk on his face as he greeted his teacher before handing the sheet of paper he was holding.

As soon as Hyuga gave his approval and commented how his assignments were great, he was taken aback when the elder male placed his hand on his head as if giving him a strange feeling of being appreciated and praised for what he did. Was that what it felt when a father praises his son for the good work he has done? It made his mind recall that memory of his past as he clenched his fist while his features showed sadness, and longing. Before Hyuga was able to completely realize what his face showed he turned his back at the elder male before walking away.

In his heart he knew he still wanted his father to tell him how proud he to have a son like him but of course it was now too late. His father was gone and that happy little kid running along the hallways with a sheet of paper showing his perfect score in an exam as he approached his father, to make him proud at what he has done and in return see a smile in his father's face while telling him.

"You did great, my son."

It was all but a dream now that will never happen.
