James' POV
I was finally about to start my journey. It was time to take my first steps as a pokemon trainer. I hoped to make friends along the way. I didn't think every battle would be as quick as my first, but I hoped they would all be just as fun. Now it was time to venture out. Eevee was just as excited as I was to get going. She was tugging at my pants. But it seemed like there was something missing, but I chose to ignore it. Ruby and I looked each other in the eye and started to walk down the route to begin our journey. After it seemed that we were about to leave, the Prof. came behind us and was holding something in his hand. Actually there were two of them. All I could make out was the color. One was an aqua blue color, and the other was a darker blue. Once the Prof. caught his breath he began to speak, "Y-you two....forgot....these...." In his hand he held out the things he had. They were pokedexes! We had almost forgot the most important part of being a Pokémon Trainers! I felt like such a dunce, and Ruby has a habit of shaming herself whenever she messes up. I always cheer her back up though. I put my hand on her shoulder, "Its alright, Ruby, I did the same thing." Noticing this she cheered right up, "Looks like we are two of the same, James!" She said beaming, "Ok, James, which one do you want,"
"No, Ruby, you pick first," I insisted. So she did. She got the darker blue one. I took the aqua colored one after her.
"Alright," The Prof. started, "If there are no further questions, you two can begin your journey as Pokémon Trainers! Good luck, and happy travels!" He smiled and began heading back to his lab.
As he did Ruby turned towards me. She grinned a goofy grin. I knew what she was thinking. I put my hand up and counted down on my fingers. Three...... Two....... One....... I thought. We both burst out,"LETS GO!!" We both ran out into the route and didn't look back. Ruby let out a surprised scream. I looked over and saw what happened. Ruby had run into her buggest fear (horrible pun right here. You'll see why) a wurmple.
Ruby's POV
EWWW EWWW EWWW EWWW EWWWWWWW!! I have the BIGGEST fear of bug types! THEY ARE SO GROSS!! From tiny wurmples to big ol' heracroses. They are ALL disgusting. I'm not harsh. I'm just.... Never mind. I might be a teensy weensy itty bitty bit harsh. But can you blame me! They are just straight nasty. I was so petrified I didn't even think to call Torchic out. Then James ran over to the rescue. I don't know what it was about him but he was so cool when he was coming to save me. He made every situation calm. He always seemed kind of defensive of me. Always trying to protect me. He was so sweet.
Once again with my trailing James thoughts. I just can't help it! Anyway while i was trailing off, James had begun to battle the wurmple. He looked like my valiant knight. He called out his Treecko to use tackle on the wurmple which took it down with one hit. He was so strong! And dreeaamy! Hee hee. Did it again. -sigh-
"Why'd you just sigh?" He asked. I realized my face was bright red,"Oh....uhhh....N-nothing." I turned away trying to hide my face. I thought to myself, I can't believe I'm lucky enough to spend my entire journey with James! This is perfect. "Come on Ruby," James called,"Quit hanging back!" I hadn't realized that he had begun walking, so I caught up with him. I took my mind off of him by focusing on our journey.
"So, James, where are we going anyway?" I asked
"Well first," he began,"We are going to Oldale Town after training on this route a bit."
"Does that mean more Wurmple?" I groaned. In my head I thought, I like James being my hero. I could get used to being with James every day, and then I thought. "James do we have any camping gear or something to sleep in, cause, y'know, it'll take days to get across this route."
