Someone once told me 'not all who wonder are lost'." But that was years ago, to this day I still can't comprehend the meaning of that literate piece.
It's not like I could keep my mind stable enough to recognize what the person was really telling me though. It's like teaching a dog to walk on its hind legs, sometimes it's just too impossible.
But that person is long gone, it's like oblivion ate up their very existence and never thought twice about it. I do think maybe the person took their life for granted, but then again... don't we all. I could care less about them now.
I seem to have thought too hard about everything in life, blaming myself for all that has happened to go wrong. But he reminded me that not all is lost... Samson gave me his wings so mine could open too. I'm forever bound to him, as he speaks of it.
We were little kids, sitting under a cherry blossom tree. I watch as the petals fall to the ground. His younger sister Leelu hides up in the tree taking a nap.
I look to Samson, he rests his eyes while letting his features go soft. "Samson?" I try to get his attention. "Hm?" He mumbles. "What do you wanna be when you grow up?"
Now at the age of 7 I couldn't begin to understand what his answer meant. We were too naive to think about what we said. But maybe in some sort of way, I did understand him.
He opens his eyes and turns to me,"I want to join the military and experiment on the titans with mom!"
I nod my head in response. "What about you Leelu?" I look up at her, she hardly opens her eyes before mumbling," same..." I turn my head and pick at the blossoms on the ground,"okay..."
"Hey, Malic?" I hear Samson's voice. I turn my gaze to him, he smiles at me,"you know what else I wanna do when I grow up?" I shake my head. "I wanna marry you!" I giggle, "and why is that?"
"Because we're best friends! And it would be so much fun!" He smiles brightly. He stands up and pulls me up with him,"Leelu!" He calls.
"What?!" He looks up," make one of those girly flower crowns please?" She rolls her eyes,"whatever..." She makes a crown and throws it down to Samson. He catches it and places it upon my head. "Now we begin!" I look at him confused, "what?"
"We are getting married right now!" I laugh at what he says and nod my head, "okay..."
"Leelu shall wed us, say the things they said at uncle Erwins wedding, Leelu!" He says. Leelu groans," do you take this girl to be your lawfully wedded wife?"
Samson jumps up and down, "I do!" He looks to me and smirks while squeezing both my hands.
"Do you take this boy to be your lawfully wedded husband?" I laugh, "I do!"
"You may now kiss the bride..." She says and yawns. Samson looks at me and gives me a quick kiss. I blush, my first kiss was a childish one, but I'll never forget it.
"Now I can start calling you Mrs. Ackerman," He says. I shake my head,"your so silly!"
"Kids! Time for dinner!" I hear Hanji call. "Come on let's go," Samson says and all three of us run from the tree.
Years later, at the age of 15, I kept that flower crown and the memories with it. But Samson forgot and I never once uttered a word to him of it.
